Will we be able to bring more than 5 players into Dungeons in Classic?

I went on a nostalgia trip this morning and decided to watch some of the Ashbringer lore videos floating around and came across this one:

While watching it I noticed that they managed to bring a group of 10 players in to SM Cathedral with them. This took place during The Burning Crusade expansion, as made evident by the titles and the Tier 6 clad players.

IIRC you could bring a raid to a “5 man” for quite a while in World of Warcraft, not many players realized you could and it wasn’t always entirely necessary but it was a possibility.

So will this feature be available during Classic? I haven’t really seen anything mentioning it, but to be fair, I haven’t done a large amount of looking.

For those just joining: I actually found out by reading through patch notes that this should in fact be a feature in Classic. In patch 1.10 they set 5 player caps to only Strat, Scholo, and BRD. Allowing UBRS to retain 10 man and LBRS.

This does not include any of the leveling dungeons, which should all be set to a 10 player cap due to a change in patch 1.3, where blizzard set the cap of all dungeons but the raids, and Diremaul to 10.

So if this is not currently a thing on Classic, then it is a bug and likely needs to be looked into.

If it was in vanilla then it’ll definitely be in classic.

Should be able to. You could bring raids of 10 players into every dungeon (minus dm, brd, strat and scholo) until…Cata? Maybe even later.

You just can’t do quests.

That’s what all the PuGs were for months. 10 mans to Strat/Scholo/UBRS. No hunters, paying 5g for priests. I would go, renew the tank, go AFK and collect loot…

Well I went ahead and dug up the patch notes for it. 1.10 put a 5 player cap on Strat, Scholo, and BRD, but left 10 player limits on all the low level dungeons. Patch 1.3 is where the 10 player cap was actually implemented on all the dungeons before 1.10.

It would appear that you are indeed supposed to be able to run 10 man raids for a majority of the classic Dungeons. I just don’t know if its actually possible or not in the Beta. I had someone on Reddit tell me that you currently cannot and they cannot seem to get the devs to notice it.

Ha, that’s interesting. So in 1.10, they fixed the dungeons that people were actually zerging, but still left open the possibility of zerging lower level dungeons. I never realized that.

I didn’t either, until I looked into it today. Honestly, in patch 1.3 it specifically states they were going to “re examine and balance” some of these dungeons to accommodate the larger player count and adjust the rewards accordingly.

So that could potentially explain how some of the leveling 5 mans could be really difficult, where as others were just not.
