Will this pc play wow?

Would like to grab a second hand pc for my husband off market place and these are the specs. I’m wordering if it will play wow as is or will I need to buy /take from another computer.

Thanks for the help * seller is asking $250

Intel Xeon E3 1230 V2 3.3Ghz 4 Core 8 Thread.
8GB Kingston Fury DDR3 1600Mhz RAM
Intel 180GB Solid State Hard Drive
Asus Motherboard
Nvidia GeForce 8400 GS Graphics card
Asus Wireless PCI card
500 Watt Power Supply
Cooler Master Case

I don’t know much about these things except graphics cards, a tiny bit because of my son. I don’t think that graphic card will do the job very well.

I’ma be real with you, chief.

This thing might let you login, but you not gonna have a good time.

The GeForce 8400 GS is a 2007 graphics card, looks like 256MB video ram, but can have 512Mb or 1Gb ram options. It does support DX 11 but might have problems with some software titles and 12. Do not think it would meet requirements.

You’d be better off just saving up a bit more and doing an igpu based AMD build than buying that piece of garbage that isn’t even worth 250

Geforce 8400 GS will not run WoW, it is too ancient. It is a DirectX 10 card with only 1/4th of the memory WoW requires

WoW states that is supports GTX 760 and newer, but as a GTX 760 owner I can say even that card is a very bad experience. GTX 760 no longer has driver support and it both does not work well, and WoW gives a lot of error messages warning about outdated insecure drivers.

Recommend minimum GTX 960 / GTX 1050 / RX 560 minimum for a WoW system just because of the software situation. WoW does run OK on a GT 1030 or a modern AMD Vega based APU like a Ryzen 5 5500U, but that is just skirting the line and best in 720p.

Ah I remember the days of playing on my sister’s computer (a basic Dell PC from '03). I was getting about 7 fps, but vanilla was such a new experience, I pushed through, and actually enjoyed myself. This was also just pulling single mobs on my NElf warrior before I even left the tree, but still, very fun. I wouldn’t do that now, lol.

It might let you log in because a potato would let someone log in but the experience would be awful.

Might be worth a shot checking other sites. I’m always concerned a secondhand seller might have installed some funky malware or something.

I spent roughly $800 on my PC five years ago and still don’t need to upgrade anything to run modern games, WoW included. I bought a prebuilt PC (I think HP? I don’t care about brands) from Newegg’s eBay account for $500ish and purchased better RAM and an SSD to upgrade that. No flashy lights to jack up the price, just a black box that runs like a champ to this day.

$250 is a scam for a 15 year old pc. If that is the price for such an ancient relic, i could ask for like $500 for my old pc from 2012. That doesnt seem right.

I know that budget is very low for any kind of gaming PC but i am pretty sure you can find much better stuff, specially if your goal is to play WoW. WoW can run on very old computers, but that thing is way way too old.

I got lucky like 3 years ago and got a $2000 alienware for half price from best buy, because some kid got 2 that year for Christmas. I play everything on full with no issues, and it’s a good base to make upgrades as I need them.

Nope don’t touch that used overpriced rig

I tried WOW on this config :

12 years old pc
AMD Athlon™ II X2 240 Processor 2.81 GHz
4,00 Go RAM
Nvidia Geforce G210 512 MB

it’s running ‘’ well ‘’ if you play full low resolution , windowed . On Old content/leveling phase i had 40-60 FPS , but in Shadowlands , it get spicy lol

Textures takes time to pop but it’s playable ( 20-40 fps ) after you run into a zone . M+ was fine but impossible to raid  + Arena i had a freeze 3-5sec every opener , so it was unplayable .

With that PC i could still run League of Legends with 60-80 fps , it’s crazy lol

Take this person’s advice. That seller is trying to scam you.

Look into something beefier. It’ll be more expensive but there’s more reasonable options if you’re on a budget.

Take that 250 and apply for financing at Best Buy or save until you can get a 600 dollar entry level gaming laptop.

It will be just fine at medium graphics settings. You’ve got a decent power supply so You can easily upgrade that card. I don’t know what motherboard it is, but I’d also recommend adding more RAM is you can.

Not sure about the CPU they listed, but at the very least a 960 will run WoW on moderate settings with no issue. I just replaced my old PC that had a 960 and a 6700k, which was also a 4 core.

TBH if I didn’t snatch all the old HDs and the cooler out of it I would just give my old one to OP if they paid shipping. lol I ran WoW on it up until literally yesterday when I finally retired it.

Thanks all for the responses. If I’m reading correctly, the masses say stay away lol. And I shall do just that.

He may just have to replace the network card as he can not figure out why his world is at 1500-1900 and the internet keeps disconnecting on only his pc.

This is what i started to game wow on, and lasted into wrath. I had to upgrade the ram to get it running. By the time wrath came out, my HDD couldnt even fit the game and had to buy something with mroe than 40gigs. I remember trying to install that new HD in that ribbon cable mess that was inside. I had a whole 3-10 fps most of the time. Dalaran was awful

If all you have is 180GB of space than with Windows and whatever else installed you may not even have the room to install WoW, let alone play it. The game takes up like 80GB on it’s own. My windows drive uses up 120GB just for Windows and whatever else is needed on that drive.

But even if you had the room, no your PC would not handle WoW.
