my concern is whether or not we will receive rare quality weapons for ranking up! secondly, how fast will we be allowed to rank up? one rank per week?
Yes, there are blue weapons, rings, etc that unlock with BG rep. AV for example has a great two-handed mace, the Unstoppable Firce I think it’s called, that I’ll seek for my Druid. Don Julio’s ring from AV is also very nice.
Regarding ranks, in the beginning at the lowest ranks you might gain two per week.

No rare weapons from ranks, there are a few with BG rep. Revered with WSG gives access to a rare sword, dagger, bow, and staff.
Ranks are based on rank points. It is possible to get up to rank 4 the first week, and one could potentially go from 4->6. Beyond that I don’t think it’s possible to get more than one rank per week due to RP decay.

Ok, my bad. Thanks for the correction, 15 years is a long time. I do recall that they are very easy to acquire compared to the pvp rank gear.
From 0 - 14 is 12 weeks if you have the most honor on your server for your faction every week. If you aren’t in the top handful every week, you will lose rank instead once you get to around rank 11.
If you have any kind of life at all, you arent getting past rank 11, don’t bother.
Sincerely, a former Rank 13 who will not be doing that grind again.
