So here’s a #nochanges-bucking question: will Blizzard provide alternate tier 3 sets for a number of classes/specs?
Tier 1 and 2 sets for paladins, at least, can go either way - you CAN heal in them, or you can collect parts of them (or all of them - whatever) for DPS. They don’t lock the character into a single role. The same thing goes for, say, warrior tier 1/2 - now, obviously, it’s not mega ideal DPS gear, but I know a lot of warriors who run with elements of it anyway to DPS - it doesn’t cripple them.
The nice thing about classic is that, while the game hasn’t changed a huge amount, the playerbase has - people understand classic a lot better than they did vanilla. Far more people are raiding; there is far more room for non-traditional DPS specs. But by the time you reach Naxx, there is absolutely zero place for any flexibility with regards to the tier sets themselves. Warrior? You are a tank. Druid? You are a healer. Paladin? You are a healer. These sets no longer offer even a minor nod to other playstyles - you’re either in your defined role, or you aren’t wearing them.
In this regard, they much more closely resemble later tier sets where there are multiple versions tailored specifically for different specs (in the above example, tank/heals/heals)… except we don’t get the other versions.
I think it would be nice, considering that there is no more progression to be had with classic after Naxx, that there would be set options for each class/spec so that they could ‘complete’ their characters, and not finish the expansion still adorned in a motley assortment of purples because the tier stuff is bad for 60-70% of the playerbase.
Who lied to you? Lol there’s not a single paladin T1 or T2 item listed on the healing or dps BiS lists for any phase of classic. T1 is almost OK for healing, and many paladins use it simply because everything else is so contested.
However it’s absolutely NOT anywhere near dps gear lol.
Paladin T2 is absolutely NOT healing gear. An argument could be used for it as yank gear, but not dps or healing. Some spell power rets do use it for spell power dps build, but it’s extremely rare to see, and simply not any good.
I’d give a hard no on this one personally. There’s plenty of AQ and Naxx level gear that any player of any class or spec can use. Having the tier set for your meme spec isn’t going to happen, nor should it. This is classic, not retail.
He said you can use paladin T1 as dps gear. Not a single piece is even geared in a fashion to make a dps paladin want it. And tier 1 has at least 2-3 items that are better than any of it per slot in MC and 5 man dungeons. His idea that it’s good, versatile for multiple specs is ludicrous.
Just because someone wants improved classes doesn’t mean he wants TBC. Let people discuss changes they want in peace and go into one of your containment threads if you want to discuss TBC. Classic movement has nothing to do with TBC.
The only piece of might that is even decent for dps are the guantlets, and those are still worse than flameguard. Might/wrath is pretty good in pvp though because of the str and stam…but the pvp gear is obviously better. Honestly you shouldn’t be running any might/wrath unless you are tanking or doing pvp…
