If so, I hope it displays both the number of upvotes and downvotes a post has instead of reducing it to a single number, positive or negative. That was really the worst part of the old system. A post could have 100 upvotes but if 115 people downvoted it it would be buried.
That's another thing, downvoted posts shouldn't be greyed out, especially given the reason above. It just encourages dogpiling.
Actually, just don't have downvoting. This place got a lot more civil when they were removed. I know moderators will have more better tools after the migration, but I sincerely hope downvoting doesn't return.
No it won't have downvotes.
Feelings would be hurt, we can't have that.
it won't have downvotes, it has a flag system instead.
which, of course, will be abused by trolls to get people in-game suspensions over disagreeing opinions

I notice more people have their feelings hurt over downvotes being gone. Some people are afraid that they can't hide behind it.11/12/2018 01:14 PMPosted by PointyendsFeelings would be hurt, we can't have that.
They don't want people to see how unpopular certain gameplay changes have actually been.

I opposed downvotes for quite awhile. They inhibited discussion about many many topics. And usually threads just devolved into arguing about why a post was downvoted.
The biggest flaw though was how it was implemented though, not necessarily the downvoting itself. I remember going back to some old threads that had say, 60 downvotes. But when the downvotes were erased with the new system it showed how many upvotes they had. Many of those posts had 30 or 40 upvotes. but the way the forums displayed it gave the impression of consensus.
I'm glad they won't be on the new forums though. IDK how to feel about the other things I've heard about it. But we'll see how it goes.
Dont worry cinnamon bun, your feelings are safe.
I don't want my feelings hurt, and everything I say is correct, so no downvotes. Please upvote this comment, kthnx.

No, it won't have downvotes, but actually you could see the actual downvote/upvote numbers here if you moused over the right spot.
Dare I say that there is one certain website somewhere on the internet that I have been using, where I don't have the option of seeing how unpopular my opinion is anymore and it resulted in a lot more suspensions for me...not saying it's this website, of course.
I'd rather downvotes than getting flagged/reported.
I'm not sure how the flagging system is going to work but I prefer no downvotes since it makes people actually reply and discuss rather than just pressing a button and then moving on without contributing.

Well, that's what the like button does and we're keeping that.
The new forum will only be able to be reached by phone! Do you guys not have phones?!

Not exactly, if you agree with someone you don't really add anything you just repeat what they say by agreeing. When you disagree its good to make clear why you disagree since there is often more than one reason and a downvote button just isn't good feedback in that sense.
Upvotes do the same job better.

All of my posts are going to get downvoted and I'm going to feel unpopular;(

They don't. It's a one-sided system. If someone makes a rage thread in all caps because they died to <insert class here>, I should be able to downvote their garbage rant.
Either have up and down votes, or have neither.

Don't worry, the Hivemind Boogie man isn't coming for your terrible opinions in the night anymore.
