As a horde player over the years, I’ve always taken time to check out the forum disputes between both sides.
I’ve noticed alliance players felt they rarely get no big fist-pumping moments despite coming off victorious many times over the history of the story. As a horde player, I can truly think of no big moments for us through the story. The best I can think of is thrall blasting down Deathwing, but by that point, he wasn’t even with the horde anymore. This was cata, since this its been the following…
MOP
- Horde leader for mop is villian
- Horde mostly villainous and wreckless during MOP
- Hordes island allies for mop are also problematic for the Pandaren
- Lose a Faction of orcs
- Lose a Respectable horde general that turned into a DK later on…
- Booted From Dalaran
Even the developers admitted to not knowing what to do with garrosh during cata which led to story issues.
WOD
- More old orcs bad guys
- After we leave the orcs get conquered by the alliance (DR)
- Horde have to mostly rely on alliance faction for help
- Horde struggle with wildlife
- Alliance struggles with actual threats
Didn’t know how i would make it through wod! i thought the orcs struggling against boars might have been the nail in the coffin, but hopefully legion will redeem us?!
Legion
- Faction leader gets killed by a basic mob…
- Varian goes out like every legendary hero we read about from our lore
- Hordes legendary new leader who was once touted as the greatest archer on the face of Azeroth has her plan foiled by a Worgen who hid in a city with a huge wall quarantined for countless xpacs…
- Hordes new legendary hero also has her navy shredded by a single alliance airship
- Ex baddie gets redemption
- help is from alliance-themed faction.
- Daily Zone is just the nightelves long lost cousins that we will for some odd reason again get a elf race that for no other reason than plotholes will join us…
- The alliance get to watch Illidan Etrigan the demon ride off with Marvels Eternals after they stop fire thanos…
Alliance villains redeeming themselves? Are horde Villians staying villainous? New trend possibly?!
BFA
- Horde burn a capitol
- Lose some seemingly interesting future allied race with the sanlayn
- Princess watches her father die and does nothing
- Newest Ally also has his daughter kidnapped at the time and does nothing to them
- This Xpac neutral hero is another alliance
- Horde hero’s sound more like the whiny twilight teenagers
- Alliance win the war canonically
- Hordes big tech guy is a bumbling moron who has products that are about as effective as ACME products sold by wish to wiley coyote.
- Alliance faction leaders seem as if they have to production value of Disney backed film
- Horde seem as if blizzard caved into Uwe Boll and let him take over the horde
Alliance has this legendary roster of reputable heroes that have fought countless wars and battles and have their names etched into countless areas of the game.
When they’re killed, holy mother even as a horde player their deaths feel meaningful and impactful. They feel heroic just breathing.
When was the last time any hero horde side felt legendary?
Thrall? Whiny brat crying up a storm all over SL… Once heroic, now embarrassing
Baine? Its like he hasnt stop crying over emo going away in the mid 00s
Zappy boy? We like him, so they’ll off him sooner for that “shades of grey” story.
Lor themar? Is there a moment hes not having a hissy fit over anything other elves do?
Gally? Hey i love the robert kotick parody, but c’mon…
I’m not saying the horde needs to conquer the alliance and destroy them, but we quite literally are just the punching bags with nothing redeemable at this point.
Yes the horde has crapped on the alliance, but they’re Ice Cube from Friday. They’re the bully everyone is laughing at, not only have they knocked us the out, they took their loot back, and ours with it.
TL&DR
horde look like absolute jokes, can we feel heroic without being completely vaillianous like the alliance form time to time?
