Will Sylvanas return help or hurt the game?

Might come as a surprise to you, but stories about victims of abuse becoming the abuser to eventually breaking the cycle of abuse are compelling to some people.

That was the single laziest move they could pull to mitigate the damage that was done during that dumpster fire.

If Blizzard would kill characters the moment their initial story ended none of the alliance leaders should be alive but here we are. Even 20 years later human fans still get compensated by Blizzard for losing Lordaeron.

Turalyon and Shaw were more worried about the dragons in Stormwind than Anduin. Maybe youā€™re right about Genn. To be fair, they mentioned him more in Reclaiming Gilneas but Tess specifically criticizes Genn for his excessive care of Anduin. But he didnā€™t appear in Dragonflight even once, at that time Sylvanas got her own cutscene.

So by that logic any former scourge couldā€™ve filled that spot.

I donā€™t care about the Alliance fandom they can ruin themselves as they please for all I care.

Sylvanas will return and there is nothing you can do about it.

And Iā€™ll laugh hysterically when everyone sees how mediocre and Alliance loving sheā€™ll be. Youā€™ll all wish she never did.

She has no ties to the alliance. that was the point of the Alleria short video. She always judged Alleria for her chosing to be with human paladins over her people. She was the Ranger General of Silvermoon. And they will capitalise on that.

and in usual fashion make her so repentant, so loving, so longing for her family itā€™ll make everyone vomit.

I was originally going to say that, but it gets repeated so often just for people who hate her to ignore it, that I donā€™t find it worth my time

Just back, to say BFA was actually really good. I had really high hopes for the story up until SL proved that it was all horrible. And the shock and awe was FINE. The whole community and not just the lore nerds, were talking about the story.

Iā€™d argue Frostmourneā€™s soul shattering is a mitigating factor on par with Mannorothā€™s blood curse, at least. Or is every orc over fifty also disqualified from redemption? Should Saurfang and the other veterans have thrown themselves on Alliance swords when the mist receded and they, like Sylvanas, realized theyā€™d committed atrocities in their wrong minds?

No kidding.

You are hands down idolizing a victim who ultimately became her abuser. Well let me tell you something I have been down that road Iā€™ve had my own personal story where I became my abuser angry, hateful, full of spite and I would not wish that on anyone not even my worst enemies! Becoming your abuser is not something cool or something to look up to It is by far one of the most horrendous feelings anyone could ever have when you realize it and the fact that people idolize this is absolutely disgusting! I didnā€™t want to spill my story as itā€™s a dark chapter but it needs to be saidā€¦

Should they receive focus on the narrative, yes. Everyone is just a random schmuck until the writers decide they wonā€™t be anymore

They are entitled to their own taste, awful as it might be

Nobody idolizes the abuse part in on itself, we like the characterisation. And I am NOT going into the conversation that one can like a character that does bad things without being a bad person. I donā€™t have the energy for it. Iā€™m really sorry you went through all that but not everyone goes about the same way as you do. I know people who were victims of abuse and these stories helped them. Its very personal.

This is an absurd characterization of what happened. Part of her personality was ripped away. Her whole moral outlook was changed against he will. She became a new person.

It is worth reminding people that you donā€™t ā€œdeserveā€ or ā€œnot deserveā€ redemption.

Again more excuses!

Itā€™s a simple lore based fact.

Sheā€™s a whole person again. The Ranger General half and Banshee Queen half have to come to terms with what the Banshee Queen half did while her good half was stuck in a soul shard in the Jailers collection

You not liking that is kinda irrelevant to that point

Her soul was split, but sheā€™s the same person, even though thatā€™s clearly a lie, but she has her own agency, but, but, butā€¦

Words can never do justice to how much diarrhea Shadowlands drenched Warcraft lore in. Nothing Sylvanas ever does can erase the utterly deranged trajectory of her circa BFA-Shadowlands. Short of us finding her locked in a deep trunk like Mad-Eye Moody, replaced by a doppelganger after MoP, I legitimately think she is unsalvageable. The character people want back is irrevocably gone.

I mean I donā€™t like what happened either and their explanation was laughable at best BUT itā€™s the awful card we got dealt. Although I want to see her again Iā€™m already bracing to not like what Blizzard is going to give us.
I do want to be positively surprised but I donā€™t think it will happen
