What else are you going to spend gold on? It’s either consumes, GDKP or AH gear.
I think this is a pretty big misconception. Most people who complain about GDKP don’t even know how it works.
After getting near-BIS gear on this Priest, I did a few GDKPs just to earn some gold. The biggest split I ever got at the end was 12g. That means - in total - the entire raid spent 120g on items, and that was only because the epic staff dropped and three people were trying to outbid each other on it. Most items went for 2-3g.
People are out here acting like thousands of gold is being thrown around in a single GDKP. It’s just silly.
Because it does happen… there is a thread and video where the epic staff went for 800g … blatant RMT
Sounds made up to be honest. The epic staff went for 60g in my raid. I’m willing to bet someone made that video just to troll.

Was it an even 10 way split or was there a 10% organiser cut 5% MT cut 2% top dps/heals etc? The gold spent would be more than 120g unless it was just a pure even split.
Items won’t shoot up unless you’ve got 2 whales that want the same thing in the same run.
The only times I saw non-even splits was Naxx GDKP. Nothing in BFD necessitates this whatsoever because the “raid” is so braindead easy.

Its not silly, just last night someone recruiting buyers was bragging about their 6k+ pot.
Also the people recruting buyers make it clear what the starting bids are, and its not 2-3g.
Its 10g for blues on average and 20g for purps someone was at 25g and they say bidding is done in 5g increments.
This is standard posting for the runs i was seeing being posted all night when i was on.
But i know responding to you swipers is pointless because you are all disingenuous in your arguments. Unless you are living under a rock, have slow mental development or are a child who has yet to encounter and understand nuace of human interaction, anyone with a brain can easily see that GDKP command the largest gold buying need. Buying a few rare items on the AH aint it, its part of it, but the real prizes are in the raids and thats where that farmed and bought gold is going.
Watch the level 50 raid be ZF and all the players that were planning on farming the ZF GY in P3 get mad when it’s locked.

You’d be right, as I despise them and don’t participate.
You know what else I despise? GDKP spam, boost spam, bots and a destroyed economy. But I know you deny any of these things actually happen or are related at all, even though boosts and GDKP are basically the biggest gold sinks in the game.

Deflated economy is the bots not gdkps.
Would be nice if instead of just one raid they added 2 like for example add like Black Rock Depth’s as a raid to go with the scarlet one and perhaps Stratholme which I think would be awesome as a raid to go along with the Karazhan one.
All the runs I’ve done have been an even split. No organizer tax or whatever.
Even if it’s 10g per blue, you’re looking at 2 blues per boss x 7 bosses. That’s 140g. Divided by 10 people, that’s 14g each. People aren’t out here starting bidding wars that reach 50g+ for a blue item.
The 6k pot you’re talking about simply does not exist. You’re being trolled, and falling for it hard.
You forgot the part where they bid by 5g increments.
And if the dude advertising that is lying, just adds to the scumbag community that proliferates the GDKP scene.

I feel like in 2019 when WoW Classic first hit, there were tons and tons of guides on gold farming.
Even without bots or GDKP, or even dungeon spamming, gold is everywhere. It is not a particularly limited resource in that there is no end to how much can be farmed.
GDKP for sure helps people centralize large gold repositories among active players. And for sure solo mage farms in dungeons are great gold generation techniques. However, as long as people play, there’s going to be more gold coming into the system than going out of it.
That’s why you see so many mage bots being levelled now.
