I can’t seem to remember with precision, I’m a grandpa now but if I take my gnome rogue at lvl 1 to the night elf starting zone will they treat me just like a newly awoken night elf and give the very first quest? It was like kill 4 boars or something lol. . . Gotta start grinding to exalted as early as possible.
How about the class specific quests too, Rogue has one at 10? Will I have to go back for that? last question. . . Does a gnome start with the ironforge flight path or will I have to unlock that first?
Pretty much how everything was back then, will be the same case now… You will still have to go to your trainer and buy your skills… you can walk to another area but it will take you a very long time to walk to another starting area… Everything will be old fashion
I believe that you can go to whatever starting zone you want, but keep in mind that the game is less forgiving to certain classes in some cities and towns. Class trainers are in their respective racial cities. Druids come to mind.
Edit: Some class quests are also racial. An example would be that you need to go back to the dwarven paladin trainer in Ironforge to get their resurrection ability quest if you are a dwarven paladin. The human paladin goes to Stormwind for their version.
iirc, you can do all the starter zone quests except for the ones that are race specific.
I did this to get an Undead mount for my Orc back in Vanilla and I think I was able to do all the ones except for “Oh good, you’ve awakened”.
But!..even doing literally every Undead quest in the game, I still had to do a buttload of turn ins of Runecloth and only was able to finish it because the AQ turn in was still going on.
At some point, before Cataclysm, I know that you could do other race’s class quests. As a rogue, I did the level 10 quest for Stormwind and Ironforge, and got two awesome daggers.
I can’t remember if that was Vanilla. Might have been BC or Wrath.
I tried this with an orc and running over to the Tauren starting area and i could not pick up the main quest-line because I was not a Tauren but I could do all of the other quests there. I found it not to be worth it after doing it on the beta even though I love the Tauren starting area. But unsure if the NE have a similar quest.
Yes, the “Rite of…” chain is strictly for Tauren. I can’t remember any other starter zone having that, except for the Gnomes in retail. Though, maybe most have that one racial chain. Can’t remember.
OP, I think it’s worth trying. The Nightelves aren’t known for their punting.
Note wetlands at 1 will be horrendous but its been done before, mainly In the opposite direction. Questing in night elf areas is sub par to the human zones. Lots of running due to long thin zone designs.
You may need to go back to iron forge at 10. But thats based off my troll rogue going to Ogrimmar a very long time ago.
It’s possible to make the Dun Morogh -> Teldrassil run without actually running through Wetlands. Same goes for Tel->DM
I can’t put links up but if you search youtube for “Dun Morogh to Menethil Harbor skip”, it’s pretty easy.
Curious question about your name…are you a MTG fan? I distinctly remember that particular card and what it did/does. Pretty nasty lol. I don’t recall seeing that name anywhere else until that point, and no where else since
A LOT of people have asked me that over the years. I’ve played the game, but I wouldn’t say I’m a fan per se, and I’ve only heard about the card and it’s rep.
I got the name from looking up more obscure synonyms for massive carnage and apocalyptic destruction (because warlock).
But the term was originally a ritual sacrifice of 100 cattle to the Greek Gods, so I also have gotten a lot “Why aren’t you a Tauren?”
Lol thanks guys, yeah I just remember the very first quest being night elf themed so I cannot remember if they will let me do the first one but I can always start from the next village if need be.
Getting there from dwarf/gnome side is easy you climb up the mountain and fall to die and it takes you to wetlands spirit healer if u do it right. For night elves theres a shortcut where you swim down the coast then die in dwarf territory.
