Is now a good or bad time to build a new PC? If not, what am I waiting on? I’ve been reading people telling others to “wait a bit longer before buying” and I am going insane playing on my current toaster.
I am trying to build an $800 tower (accessories not included) that will run WoW buttery smooth. Dunno if that’s possible. Dunno if I should wait.
Can someone who’s a bit less ignorant than me help a guy out? I’d really appreciate it!
Edited to add: apart from CPU, GPU, and mobo, abbreviations and acronyms—no matter how seemingly obvious to others—make things very confusing for me. In fact, this is why I am here asking this question to begin with. Please pretend I know nothing.
It is a bad time due to shortage in supply. I am currently on week 3 waiting on my last piece to arrive. Prices are also higher.
$800 for just the tower should be enough. If you need monitors and peripherals then it will be a bit harder.
If you can wait, wait. Otherwise you’ll be on preorder waitlist to get components at a reasonable price.
Okay - thank you! Do you have any PC part picker links that would be relevant just to get an idea of what I would be buying?
Are hardware companies about to release new content?
-Edit I had a filter on that skewed a few things for me.
What I’d change…
GPU -> Rx 5700 if possible
Storage -> 500gb is plenty for a lot of people, but its nice to have 1tb for about $40 more
PSU -> There are better option when supplies are more readily available.
