[Sk’shuul Vaz] Gain Obsidian Skin, increasing your Armor by 5%. While in combat, explode with Obsidian Destruction every 30 seconds, dealing Shadow damage equal to 175% of your Armor to all enemies within 20 yds.
I mean, 5% armor is the interesting thing here along with continued scaling. I think that brings us to pre-8.2 relative armor levels… but I don’t think that’s enough for us to be kings again.
Unfortunately no. The k scaling change honestly nullifies the gain from the weapon. Even with the 5% increased armor we’ll still never see armor values like we had even in 8.2, let alone what we had before the Uldir nerfs.
Honestly the weapon shouldn’t even be used. The armor isn’t worth the corruption cost. If it didn’t have a corruption cost it wouldn’t be as much of a problem, but as it stands now you’re always better off purifying the weapon and if you need extra armor getting it from other sources.
Isnt the corruption completely nullified by the cloak?
Furthermore, how is the the 2her from Kings rest BIS?
Isn’t the loss of secondary stats not worth it as it affects your tankiness?
The theory is that things die fast enough in mythic+ that youll benefit from the healing the sword provides, but I agree with you, Id rather have secondary stats that I can rely on over a chance on hit that isnt all that common.
it’s funny looking at the damage changes on it from 1000% armor, to 300% to 175% for the damage portion. maybe they were were seeing results of people gaming the armor calc. when it was time to apply damage. but at he same time twilight devastation does so much health percentage wise.
I can’t imagine it being super op at 300% though I didn’t test it on ptr.
Let’s say we get 15k armour(generous) it’d be 90k damage in aoe every minute while twilight devastation at the 18% roll will be 180k with 1mil hp which I assume we will get quite easily.
I thought this was reasonable because you 5% armour, more predictable damage and it’s easier to apply since it’s aoe around you not in front of you.
With the damage nearly halved and the corruption more than doubled just seems so underwhelming.
My point is corruption is not a factor down the line.
In anycase, on your armor you would be stacking infinite stars because its such a god like trait right now
You can have up to 8 pieces with corruption, the expensive t3 traits are 60+ that’s 480 corruption.
With the cape and all 3 essences you get 180 corruption resistance before the 85+ neck upgrades.
So you’re looking at excess of 300 corruption with perfect rolls, at the end of this week coming with 445s being the max loot from +6s I expect to have a bunch of corrupted pieces I’m unable to use and that will snowball every week.
Corruption will be a factor all the way to the end of the xpac.
It was mediocre at 300% too. Blizzard overnerfed it to the point it isn’t worth using unless it is the highest ilvl weapon you have that isn’t a Geti’ikku.
Noone is going to wear 8 pieces of corruption because it is unnecessary and not worthwhile.
The only trait you will want is infinite stars which is a t3 corruption trait.
Once you have 150 resistance, all you will want is at most, 2x infinite stars and a weapon.
I can be yes, but you still have a finite corruption budget. That corruption is simply better spent elsewhere. Again, if there was no corruption on the axe then it wouldn’t be as much of a problem, but it does. Honestly I wish it didn’t just to have an option outside of just using Geti for everything.
Because it does a lot of damage. Geti’s proc on average in ST is worth about 25 item levels compared to weapons with stats. That’s not even considering the heal. Its worth less in multi-target, but it still provides and absurd amount of extra dps for very little loss.
The secondary stat loss is completely worth it. You’re overvaluing how much secondary stats matter for Blood. You’re also overestimating how much they impact your “tankiness”. Blood “tankiness” comes from how well you play and how well you Death Strike. Having a small amount of extra secondary stats or not having a small amount of extra secondary stats is irrelevant.
Regardless OP asked whether the axe would make Blood DK competitive. It won’t.
Is it now? Cool, I had thought that the proc effect did not occur as often as is often the case with such weapon types. I am glad I am not wrong in trying to farm the damn thing from +6 KR
