Honestly herod wouldn’t have been as badly populated if they had just given SA their own server, probably would have fixed most of it, people don’t want to play with LA and BR
It’s not like the PVE servers stopped them from spinning up a new server. People don’t want to be around Portuguese speakers, or streamers, or whatever. Fine, they don’t have to be on those servers. I understand why Herod got so bad, but at this point, people need to consider jumping to Stalagg if they don’t want to get stuck in ridiculous queues.
Problem is the ship has sailed, Herod is the only EST guarantee of having a not dead server come 3-6-12 months from now, stalagg could die, and population is just about everything in vanilla
only time this could have been fixed is pre server name announcement and pre name registration
0 chance Stalagg will be dead. Smart people will reserve names now. Foolish people will wait until launch, get upset by 8 hour queues and THEN try to reroll on Stalagg (or whatever other PVP est server is up by then). Don’t forget, there are plenty of people who haven’t even subbed yet, so that realm will be full by launch.
My point is simply that the issues with Herod have nothing to do with the PVE servers.
EDIT: Also, I planned ahead for this type of stuff. I reserved only my main on my first choice realm. If fresh one opens up, I will reserve same name on that one and decide on launch day which to roll with.
The PVE server thing was to maintain overall server numbers, not any other reason, I think we’re bordering on too many servers if they add more then one more
PvE is fine. They might need one more est realm at launch, but maybe not. Herod needs to get sorted out, the sooner the better.
I’m in a lot of the communities for herod, no one is moving lol, they’ve already accepted the 10k+, hours long queues
sorry forgot a comma and made it look like the it would 10k+ hours lol
I’m sure come launch some will see Stalagg filling up and decide to bail. Especially people that aren’t guilded yet.
Edit: I think the queues COULD be that long, lol. Once people login, they’re gonna try to not log out. (Kidding but sorta not kidding)
sent me discord invites pls.

they’re going to be awful, thankfully our guild finally decided ot move to stalagg
Can you send me a invite for your guild discord? teknix#7291
Gratz for being in a smart guild. I’m positive you’ll have better play experiences on Stalagg compared to Herod.
Also, I like the name Stalagg better. Stalagg sounds like you’re all in Russian prison.
Don’t really have authority over that, it’s a pretty strict guild.
And where will the thousands of player magically disappear to if layering is ever removed?
Face it, more than a few of the PVP servers are going to have well over 10k active players months from now and blizz will either have to split the server, force immensely large queue’s or keep layering up “due to the unexpected popularity of Classic”.
To the queue?
Your number is way off. A server peaking at 3k has.more than 10k active players. Not everyone plays at the same time. Some people don’t play every day. 10k active players on a server capped at 3k wouldn’t see queues.
The chances of every server ending up healthy after the tourist Exodus is unlikely. Queues will be a thing on some servers when layering is removed. Server transfers will be offered off of overpopulated servers to less populated servers. This is how blizzard has handled this in the past.
Blizzard has also stated that layering cannot exist in phase 2. If your server is overpopulated during phase 2 when layering has been disabled, you can transfer off, or wait and hope others do. Extending layering isn’t an option, blizzard has plenty of options that they have used in the past.
Unless one of us work for Blizzard, no one knows. I would recommend asking Blizzard directly.
The servers will hold ~5k-10k per layer. It is dynamically adjusted based on zone demographics. Too many people in one cluster will result in “soft” ques. meaning you will not be able to cross an invisible wall into another cluster that is full.
The old system of server management will not be used.
But why is 3k good enough? It’s still not enough to occupy all areas in the world. You go to a random odd place in Un’Goro, for example, you’re all alone. I would at least like to consistently see another player within a 100 yard radius… which would probably require 15-20k population.
