Will self found players be able to get boosted in dungeons?

So if we want to play self found mode, whats stopping people from getting boosted XP and loot in dungeons with the help of other players?

Nothing, ultimately you can level any way you want, but the thing is nobody but you will care that you have a “SF” buff other that yourself, or those you run into along your journey that you might group with to do dungeons, and if someone is getting boosted, you likely wont run into them as they will be off getting boosted. Also, there is the 1 dungeon per day limit which kind of eliminates any real boosting in dungeons.

In HC most people are here for the journey, not raiding, and while there might be some people out there getting boosted for raiding, if they are really in a rush to get to 60 so they can participate in Petri raiding, its likely they wouldn’t care about the “SF” buff, as it is cosmetic and does nothing.

Are dungeons in HC still once per day lock outs?

Yes, they haven’t change the lockouts in HC

Dungeon boosts aren’t really a thing in hardcore due to the massively reduced xp if mobs are grey to anyone in the party. Really the main way people have been boosting is mob tagging. ZG boosts are a thing but that is only from level 52+

it’s technically possible to dungeon-log, yes.

That isn’t the same thing as a dungeon boost though. Dungeon boosting was the thing people did throughout classic where they’d just AFK at the start of the dungeon while a mage rounded up all the trash and AOE’d it down. Just running a dungeon and logging out until you can do it again is still you playing your character.

there’s anti-carry mechanics like DR on snares and xp loss for level imbalance.

it wouldn’t be something faster than grinding boars solo.

overworld spawn tagging, hwoever, is a much faster route.

Oh I was under the impression that self found hardcore would have its own server I guess not!

Back in my day there was twinking, mainly used for bg where you got stacked gear for lvl 19 and could solo entire battlegrounds. I think the feature to ‘freeze’ your level was added in tbc but if its in classic then you could create a set of twinks to clear dungeons at level. Could work for DPS but probably best on a tank.

I know, that power leveling is frowned upon here in hc but back then nobody was doing it and it was a lot of fun creating strange builds with my hunter tank friend but we only ran for in-game gold. Mainly Blackrock Depths and Strattholme for the Rivender Death Charger which he had dibs on but never got… Anyway, different times.

Power leveling is nothing new and has been in wow since the start and people were power leveling in games before wow even came out. Some of it wasn’t as obvious, because of the mass influx of new players to MMOs that joined with WOW so many of those players were clueless, but even in Vanilla, people chased world buffs, had raid and guild requirements and power leveled. Sadly using exploits, cheating and RMT trade have also been around since before wow, and with it since the beginning as well also.

I’m not worried about what the Jones’s are doing next door.

The problem is the “shame” formula for cheating in WoW is completely messed up.

People treat RMT & Cheating as not a big deal. It has become so mainstream acceptable that people will literally talk about swiping.

The truth is that the prestige and recognition they get by the community for having BIS items or lots of gold far outweighs the shame of cheating.

Back in the day this wasn’t the case and people who were discovered to be swiping were ridiculed. Sure some people still did it but the incentive is lower when the fear of getting socially ostracized existed.

I don’t really think much has changed personally, as back before WOW having seen all kinds of uproar about cheating, the big thing then was “radar” and people participating in RMT there was a lot of shaming or attempted shaming around it, being before two factor authentication the real penalty at the time was lots of people had their accounts comporomised. At the same time just like today there were lots of false accusations, more often than not from people jealous of other people just like today. I think in fact cheating and RMT was a bigger deal, as the community overall was a lot smaller, unlike wow, so it was harder to escape the stigma, and you couldn’t just transfer servers.

i wont respect any1 that doesnt have it, and assume they buy gold

Thats perfectly fine, though I can’t personally imagine why anyone in wow would ever need to buy gold or why anyone would care if they did, especially in HC. Gold has always been easy to get in all version of wow, with only minimal effort, and to be honest it has always seemed to be somewhat worthless to me.

I was actually happy when they launched the token in WOTLK as it finally gave me something to do with gold and now can play free, and no I don’t run GDKPs, gold is just that easy to make, so in that sense there is a market for people who simply don’t want to put any effort into the game, since with dailies anyone could make a lot of gold in about 30 minutes a day with minimal effort, but those people don’t really effect me in any way, especially if all they do essentially is sit around in the capital cities.

The people that do affect me are the ones I party and group with, and which I find I enjoy talking to or running stuff with, and then it’s more about their attitude, and personality. As for the SF tag it certainly wont cause me to respect or not respect anyone, unless of course they bring along the toxicity that some in the SSF crowd had on BSB.
