Will Sargeras be back?

I have seen some discussion about who can face Zovaal in his current complete form. Seems like not even the Titans could do it, except for Sargeras, who has shown to be completely beyond everything in terms of power. No, I don’t think Elune can face Zovaal now.

Obviously that could also mean Illidan and the other Titans coming back in some way. They are clearly coming back at some point, it is just a matter of against Zovaal or in the next exp.

That becomes more evident when you consider Blizzard has dropped some hints about the titans interactions behind the lore through this expansion and brought back several Legion characters, such as Odyn and the Valkyr. Also, Tyrande turning into a vengeance machine just like Illidan. And big cosmic powers stuff in general.

What do you think?

…a part from me still want to say "Elune"but…in fact…we all know…elune will not do anything…against zovaal and play no real role against this thread anymore.

I think she will do… something? But seems like not much. Not more than, for example, the Eternal Ones.

before 9.1…i thought elune could our ticket against zovaal, but now…not anymore.

No, I believe the Sargeras (and Illidan) storyline is over. This expansion is about exploring unknowns (Shadowlands, Elune, Night Warrior, Sylvanas goals and agenda, Dreadlord origin story, what happened to our prior bads Kael and Garrosh, domination runes/weaponry origination, and a lot more. We’ve had multiple expansions exploring Illidan and Sargeras, and I don’t believe they’re interesting enough at this point to be brought back into the fold. That would also mean the rest of the Titans would be back, and then you would assume it becomes a Pantheon of Order vs. Pantheon of Death scenario, and I’m not sure where the heroes of Azeroth would fit into that story.

Unlike 90% of the folks that seem to post on the forums, I don’t hate Shadowlands, no where near the best expansions, but I can tolerate it.

However, all the Elune stuff was a tremendous let down for me. I wish she could come in and make a difference, but I just don’t see that happening anymore.

I figure that Anduin and Sylvanas got the power rings Zoval was hiding and are going to combine to create Sylvandin and one shot him.

I understand your point, but it is not…?

The ending of Antorus was clearly a cliffhanger. We are not sure what happened after the Titans vanished with Illidan and Sargeras. I mean, we can assume things, but there is not a single fact about that event after the cinematic point.

Plus… the Sargeras’ sword is still there, as much as people just forget about it. It is part of his lore.

Sargeras will most certainly be back at some point, but don’t expect it to be this expansion and I really doubt he’ll be fighting with us when he shows up.

I don’t get why people think we need some third party to step in and stop Zovaal - we’re the heroes, the maw walkers apparently hand chosen by the First Ones. We’ll be the ones to take Zovaal down, probably by binding our souls to whatever lost or hidden power the First Ones left behind that Zovaal is trying to take for himself - the object of his desires will ultimately be his undoing - it’s kind of a foregone conclusion.

The First Ones made Zovaal, charged him with his duty, and he turned against them. Even if they are dead and gone, there will be consequences for that, and we will be the conduit through which those consequences flow.

Not necessarily with us, but Zovaal being his own enemy, since both want to destroy everything and remake the universe in their image.

We will certainly fight Zovaal directly, since he is the final boss of the expansion, but I am just concerned about how the lore will develop to that point. We need big powers to face him… the Eternal Ones clearly do not have enough, that would make no sense.

I don’t think Sargeras knows about Zovaal, let alone considers him an enemy. I don’t even know who would:could try to tell him about Zovaal that he would believe either - he’d probably just think we were agents of the Void trying to trick him.

Zovaal may want to reshape all life to serve his will, but Sargeras wanted to wipe out all life period. Their goals are not opposed so much as they are completely contradictory. But there’s no reason Sargeras would think he needs to oppose Zovaal - turning all life into meat puppets would probably make them easier to kill.

Right. Hence we’ll be using the First Ones power, since that has been telegraphed all the way back at the start of the expansion when the First zones technology only responded to us, allowing us to escape the Maw.

Plus when it comes down to it, Zovaal seems to basically want the same sort of thing the Void Lords want, only with existence remade to favor his vision and Death instead of the Void. So learning about Zovaal would arguably just reinforce Sargeras’ belief that the universe as it exists is fundamentally compromised by its underlying composition of malicious forces bent on subjugating everything to an eternity of horror under their control, and likely only strengthen his resolve to burn it all down and start over from scratch.

I like to think that they know of eachother, pretty well actually.

Eonar’s essence hid away on a planet named after Elune, and within the Dreadlord Preface book, we get to see that Denathrius knows of all the cosmic forces and how to infiltrate each one.

They are familiar enough with each other in that regard.

I think it would have been super cool to tie in pre-corrupted Sargeras into the original defeat of Zovaal.

The Primus’ act of desperation, to defeat Zovaal wasn’t using any of his weapons. It was asking Sargeras for help.

Sargeras, who split a planet in two, who created Mardum to imprison demons, etc. Shattered the Original Realm of Arbiter Zovaal, and what remained was twisted into the Maw.

Sargeras and Elune are probably going to sit this one out.

As for Elune, I personally think she was working with Zovaal similar to Denathrius. For self gain, and that will be a “twist” we see coming later on.

However, if we go back to Northrend, I assume Sholazar Basin will play heavily in summoning Elune…

If Blizzard wants Elune to be present to help save a bit of the storyline and get players hyped again, I think she could play a role in imprisoning Zovaal.

We use Sholazar Basin to summong Elune, she helps us craft a sigil. Using her power, she removes the Sword of Sargeras and grows a new tree in it’s place. A new place for the Night Elves.

Sargeras I think is going to sit on his throne and ponder what expansion he’s going to come back for.

Man I love your creativity even if Blizzard does not work with any of that lol

Considering we already defeated and all but killed an Eternal One, Zovaal likely isn’t as far up there as he is made out to be, where his biggest strength has been using domination magic that we haven’t had the ability to counter, but we now have the person who literally wrote the book on it on our side.

As for Sargeras the answer is obvious that he’s in the potential future plot storage warehouse. They way they ended it was clearly done in a way to wrap up the Burning Legion Arc, but still have him around if need be.

On the subject of is Shadowlands that plot, my answer is no. Zovaal isn’t anywhere near we need the one Titan who still has his original and stronger body to fight. In a way he’s like Nzoth, he has a unique power that can corrupt people, but once harnessed it could easily be turned against him to bring him back with the league of us defeating Denathrius.
