Will Pika ever come back to retail after averaging 20k viewers playing hardcore classic?

What are the chances he comes back?

No.

I decry anything that’s detrimental to developer resources.

So then you’re a living paradox

Because based on your post history, surely appeasing a subscriber such as yourself is detrimental to developer resources

You are looking at xaryus viewers, they are duo streaming. Pika has 8K which is good but im pretty sure he usually has 3-5k which is about what he had queing arena iirc.

Oh, I didn’t know it worked like that. It shows 10k, which is still quite a bit more than he usually gets. I mean, it’s not like he has to stream classic to be well off.

That many classic players are still alive? Impressive.

Not that it really matters but I stopped my 2.5 year sub streak to him because I can’t stand classic. :woman_shrugging:

What I don’t get is how that many people even care about hardcore classic that much. It’s a running/don’t fall asleep simulator.

I wonder how much hype classic got because of T1 and that whole only fangs thing. Idk, I don’t follow streamer culture or the classic meta, but it seemed like classic was dead as a dornail and now it seems like it’s more popular than retail XD

Hardcore had a healthy pop of 1k ish people still before annav realms and Classic era actually has a lot of people still raiding on it and pvping (27k) before these new realms came out which is rediculous.

There was 11 layers which is 5k per layer during xmas time on the US pvp realm and slightly less on the pve realm, which was a similar amount of people playing hardcore because of this onlyfangs thing.

Most of those streamers have Blizzard contracts to play HC. Like any media. They will sell their air time for a good pay check. Nothing wrong with it on the business side of things. It is part of their business and it is also part of what makes them a biased towards their hirer. Their real opinions are hardly known.

Yes, certainly. He’ll follow the money and do new things for his viewers. It’s pretty fried tho- I’ve only ever seen him do new pvp things and mostly arena.

Another good reason to give the players that want to play deathmatch a mode where they don’t have to play healer 1/2 or 1/3 of the time (deathmatch players want to have the power to make other players die).

It was all the onlyfangs stuff. It would’ve done fine without that, but likely would be dying off hard by now if not already largely done. Onlyfangs has kept the hype rolling, brings in viewers and new players, etc. Huge streamers from many different communities joined in, bunch of rival guilds made by viewers, and its just led to a lot of hype.

I thought the competition between races was actually a really brilliant idea from soda, people seem to love that even after this long. The open voice addon has also been hilarious, want something like that for retail. They did a lot of set up for this stuff and it definitely paid off.

Well they do and they don’t. The modern gamer is only interested in the current thing. Most gaming streamers bounce game to game and their followers follow them. I’ve always thought this is bizarre behavior but people also like classic wow because it’s one of the few options left for playing an actual mmorpg. Retail is so far detached from being an mmo it’s just a battle pass cash shop sit in town q for instanced content with strangers and collect good boy points.

In retail the piece of gear for the new patch was nerfed to uselessness in PvP because people are scared of gearing in hardcore classic hold on dudes I’ll be at the dungeon in a minute my friends making me a set of bandages and potions I’ll trade some when I get there

I don’t…I’ve made the highlight reel one too many times…

THE LAST TIME HE PULLED OUT THE SELFIE CAM…my mage pride was destroyed in that 1v1 :joy:

Classic has something that retail hasn’t and won’t ever have moving forward.

Any sense of community at all. It is always min max this, min max that. Step over others to get where you’re going. Nothing of “value”.

Classic is fun for me to log on either instead of retail sometimes, or after shuffles / arena. It’s a similar stance / take for most people.

Classic release made wow hit the highest numbers it ever had on Twitch for viewers.

It’s insanely weird to be hating on people playing the game version they enjoy when it has 0 impact on you.

Rogue design in TWW is bad.

Not likely.

It has a massive community still from private servers (I used to be in it). At one point around WoD->BFA, private vanilla+tbc+wotlk servers had more people playing them than the retail game did, and that carried through until classic was announced+launched.

There were people in guilds I was in getting like 1-2k+ viewers on twitch when it was just buggy private servers being ran from eastern european’s basements (although some had better, more actually blizzlike scripting than current classic does - but that’s a different argument). Now that you don’t get b& for it and have to continually keep spinning up new twitch accounts, that has just continued to grow.

Personally I think anything outside of watching high end speed runs of stuff to be almost like watching paint dry, but there’s an absolutely massive classic community of people who want to play and watch it. They’re absolute diehards

I’ve played hardcore classic, my European friend, and it is fun for a little while. I got to like lvl 52 as an enh shaman and ended dying some monkey cave. I was messing around in a cave I knew was dangerous and did it anyways cause I unconsciously wanted to be free from continuing to level.

The game is just running around and doing quest, which all gets so boring so fast. Lets also look at the fact the classic game is so boring that they had to add a challenge mode where you never die. AND there’s even more challenge modes like no trading, no AH, etc.
