Will other MMORPGs follow WOW Classic's example?

Games like Ultima Online, Everquest, LOTRO, SWTOR, etc. will do a classic server as well if WOW Classic proves to be a success?

LOTRO already released legacy servers

Oooh when did they do that and how do you access it?

Blizzard is playing catchup here in the retro legacy game arena.

I give anything for official Classic EQ 1 and UO.

Only VIPs have access to legacy servers atm

They already have, I can’t believe people don’t know this. WoW is very late to the game and this is the #1 reason that we are getting Classic. They know people like legacy/progression servers. LoTRO was the latest to do this.

Basically you have to sub (become a VIP player).

Project 1999 requires me to either pirate the game or find some very obscure and clean download that I have no idea where to find one and don’t get me started on how to set it up to work on my PC because the install process is cumbersome. And again Project 1999 is still a private server and not one officially released and supported by Daybreak.

And I have not heard of any Official Ultima Online Classic Server before the Second Age expansion.

EQ has progression servers for subscribers, though.

Does it also have the older graphics and the gameplay rules of the original game?

Like no Races and Classes that were introduced in later expansions?

I never played EQ and am not super up on all the details.

I believe that they have no races or classes until the expansion they were introduced in unlocks on the server, and I believe that they have older graphics and gameplay, but am not sure.

Does EQ 2 have a progression server?

No idea. Maybe?

We can hope.

What I’m actually hoping for a little more seriously, is not fullblown legacy servers, but bringing back some things they mindlessly followed WoW in removing–like the talent trees from SWTOR–if Classic proves successful enough (and Blizzard admits it).

Edited to add: EQ2 has progression servers theoretically, but…they’re pretty much just servers that don’t have access to some expansions’ content. They didn’t bother to actually revert the ruleset, just slapped on a lower level cap and locked off some areas.

There’s an MMO for Pokemon and Harry Potter?

Wait, UO still exists?

Yes didn’t you hear.

EQ1 has had multiple progression servers. Rift, EQ2, LoTRO all have done progression/legacy servers.

Rift’s are terrible though, just less content with the same classes/mechanics/systems.

I would have tried them out if they had made them actual classic servers, but they basically just released “BFA with a level cap of 60” and called it a legacy server.
