Will old strategy guides work with this re-release?

I am not the brightest tool in the shed but LOVE wow and don’t have many friends. I decided that getting a strat guide wouldn’t be a bad idea since I am not going to have much help besides google (boring). If I bought a used copy of the old offical Brandygames strat guides would they still help with this?

It should help pretty well. It’s actually been scanned on the internet archive, and I was browsing it. It’s for sure on an earlier version, since Humans don’t have Mace Specialization yet, but the info should still be good.

It is unlikely to help more than doing research online will help you.

Most of the strategy guides (including the Bradygames one) were written before release, and already contained little bits of outdated information by the time the game had released.

Classic is running 1.12, the last patch of Vanilla, and as a result the strategy guides are significantly outdated. They will still be roughly accurate in some broad ways, but they’re unlikely to give you any really useful specifics, and they will contain inaccurate information that you won’t know is wrong.

I would stick to a wowhead or thottbot kind of resource / YouTube videos. Their information is going to be far superior to a strategy guide, especially an outdated one. You can narrow down what you want through these resources, which will help you a ton. Use the forums too! Let us know what you’re struggling with. We love to help just as much as we love to complain about streamers! We are all passionate about this game!

The first places I go in forums are the hunter discussion, or the Zerg in SC2, because I come wanting to help others versus join in on the pitchfork parade. There are plenty like me. I would suspect there will be classic class forums etc that you can use to network with people. And make friends! It’s fun! Also, there are plenty of discord communities, which you can find in Reddit usually.

Thank you so much! I will check out the forums more and more for sure then. I have check out some discords off reddit but I have a hard time jumping into group I guess and can never join voice chat lol. Thank you though!

I mainly use discord to find groups. For voice, I usually just listen. I don’t like to talk much unless it’s important. But discord is always how I find my guilds and communities that help with questions I have. You can mainly type for that sort of thing (: try it out! Happy hunting!

Look up Joanas strategy guide online. Its free, hes updating it all the time and it should be done before full release. He may have a physical copy as well im not sure. He puts in a LOT of work into his guides, he treats it like a full time job, its worth checking out.

Mostly yes. The Brady Games guide was a bit off due to publishing vs release details even at the time, but it does include a lot of detail.

However… far more of that detail and more accurate versions is available online.
