Honestly, Microsoft can’t do any worse than Activision already does through Blizzard, at least we’d see some improvement and reinvestment in the actual product if for no other reason than Microsoft wanting more customers and subs as they said and as people here have said to recoup their investment in purchasing the place. Secondly MOST of the bad actors currently running the place into the ground including Kotick and possibly Ion would be let go, so there’s also that…
How many times in my lifetime have I seen “can’t do any worse” be proven wrong.
Content wise? Won’t change. Monetization? More. Only thing I could hope for is that they apply the XGP monthly payment to the wow account. Wishful thinking, maybe
Would be great, but I have a feeling they are going to let things go as they are.
And Redfall.
TL;DR:
A gaming company with experience in single player rpg games decided it was going to take advantage of the current trend toward looter shooters. Most of their devs quit. They were unable to hire new ones with experience in the new genre because the game hadn’t yet been announced. Much management confusion ensued. When microsoft bought them, the devs working on the project were hoping they would cancel it. Instead it was released and became a big failure.
Microsoft ownership wont change anything as long as the current dev team is there.
They make the game decisions not the executive board.
And management is responsible for who they hire for those tasks. Everything starts and stops at the top. Bad leadership? Bad devs = poorly performing product.
Abusive egotistical maniacs don’t exactly foster the right environment for creative productivity that leads to products that perform well.
To that end, their first order of business should be reassessing every employees performance and relevance to driving the metrics they are seeking.
I’m not worried about it. I like and use Microsoft products. I prefer them over others. It’s my hope that they take the trash out (they can start with the Hearthstone devs team) and make some much needed improvements.
did they already?
Did who do what? The deal has not yet gone through. If Microsoft looks at WoW and decides something is seriously wrong with the direction the company is taking with wow, they have the option of making management changes.
No.
I remember when GM’s were inside the game almost 24/7 today they are a myth.
Not worried.
I’m actually looking forwards to it. Stuff like loot boxes and microtransactions are already deeply ingrained in online gaming, so them coming here is likely to happen weather Microsoft gets in or not.
My concern is if they’re going to actually pull away from the esports obsession Activision has, and actually approach the development of an MMORPG as an RPG first and foremost again. I see no major changes being made towards something like PvP until this whole thing is over.
Like, yes, Microsoft wants to print money, but this game is lacking features that print money that are also like… basic. Housing? Prints money. We might finally actually get it.
I’ll take the sacrifice for that.
Hmm i wonder why, maybe cuz everything gaming is on windows
No,the old establishment is still there so nothing will improve except for more ads on you launcher to muck your game play.
Can’t hurt, I mean put the sub in with battle pass, big win.
Hmm, so you wish to pay for the game as a whole even if the game is bad? I mean battle pass and subs add up and are not grantee a good out come on the customer.
I did wow the game is bad. I only keep playing for the family that I play with.
Possibly doubt it’ll get worse though especially with Bobby out of the picture.
Xbox is known for dumping money in to games they buy and let them do their thing at least at first. But nobody knows how this merger will affect WoW most likely for years.
As long as WoW is making a profit and hitting their budgets, They will leave it alone and let Blizzard run it. I would anticipate the influence to hit future games.
