these naming schemes, why is an i9 just an 8core now. Just get rid of the i9 name @.@

Gotta love the Cherry picked data here. I was planning on getting a Rocket Lake but I’ll wait for data on this or the stop gap between Zen3 -> Zen4.

11th gen is what 10th should have been. Intel is always a day late and a dollar short these days.

11th gen will gain more with PCIE 4.0. Ampere and RDNA2 looks better with it.

Still waiting on the next gen of DDR. PCI-E 5 isn’t too far off, either

If leaks are to be believed, not gonna happen this time Intel.

twas expected. They’re just trying to stretch 14nm. Not going to lie though. I had some hope that intel would have release something like a 6core @ 5.5Ghz just to say they still own the gamer market.

I still think they should drop the i9 name for rocket lake.

I’m assuming your next build is geared towards AMD?

Will depend on final results, but likely yeah.

5800x or 5900x.

Or perhaps Zen 4?

All depends. Availability is the biggest problem. If Intel has an 8 core that’s not too expensive, available, and equal or better at gaming, then I could get that too.

I’m not surprised the multi-threaded performance is lower, given it has a 2 core deficit (10900k is 13% faster, but has 25% more cores/threads, still pointing to a performance increase). But gaming was hoping for more improvement.

I suppose we’ll need some real workups first to determine.

Only on specific titles. Also next gen Intel has lower lane count than current gen Zen. Intel also is dropping Optane supposedly.
Not feeling the love here Intel :anger:.

Seems they’re stretched really thin this generation.

The 11700k and 11900k are the same configuration, with just the maximum boost clocks separating them at 4.9ghz vs 5.2ghz.

I don’t believe just the frequency boost is enough to justify the price difference, whatever that may be. It definitely does not justify the name of i9.

Additionally, this probably means overclocking isn’t going to be very impressive on either chip, if they are stretched this thin on silicon segmentation.
