Will i get banned for using Auctionator?

I thought a 1:1 ratio for things was ok, but auctionator will full scan the auction house, full scan undercuts, etc. Thats a 1:infinite ratio. It looks helpful but I dont wanna get banned for exploiting. Is there an official blizzard announcement for this?

I have been using Auctionator for a long time. Mainly to build a database of rough prices so I can see them in the tooltip without visiting an auction house immediately. It is less data consuming than TradeSkill Master. And you can only do a full scan once every 15 minutes. Subsequent scans will take forever to complete due to how the API is built.

I don’t think you will get banned unless some new policy was implemented this weekend. If Blizzard doesn’t like these addons, they can just disable the auction scanning APIs they built.

No, this addon has existed for years.

I don’t use it, and I’ve always seen non-users complaining about it because of AH snipes and whatnot.

But it’s legally allowed and always has been.

Auctionator should be fine. Don’t create personal scripts or mods for the addon that will automate things and you should be fine.

Like other people have said, as long as the add-on is just using Blizzard’s API and not adding any automation on top of that, you should be fine. And Auctionator doesn’t do anything out-of-bounds that I’m aware of.

I’ve used Auctionator steady for the last few expansions. If it were doing anything ban-worthy I’d have eaten a Banhammer long before today. And since I haven’t, I’m forced to conclude that it’s not doing anything ban-worthy.

Hmm, okk, a lot of mixed answers here but I’ll give it a shot! thanks!

Bots : We inflate the auction house, i don’t think you can get banned for messing with Auction house in any way
Also Bots : We inflate the auction house (again) Where have you been?

Addons that work by being dropped in the Addons folder and being loaded by the game cannot by definition automate gameplay or break any rules. Those work within Blizzard’s sandbox and can only access functions Blizzard have given addons permission to access. Auctionator is one of those.

I suppose it would be possible for an addon to break chat rules like by using naughty language or spamming or something, but that’s about it.

No.

It will scan the AH, but any action, posting or cancelling, each requires its own button push… although it is streamlined. That’s the 1:1 ratio they care about.

Auctionator is fine. No problem there. In fact, Ion mentioned in one interview that he uses it himself.

TSM shouldn’t be fine, IMO, but Blizzard allows it.

If Blizzard considered either of these, or any regular addon that works with their API, a problem, they would break the addon by changing the API. They wouldn’t penalize ordinary users. Blizzard have changed their API in the past to break addon functions they considered too powerful and not intended.
