I play a rogue on a PvP server and have been considering in my down time going around alliance cities and towns and killing the people / NPCs in those towns. But I keep seeing posts about people being reported and banned for “zone disruption” whenever they grief other players with PvP.
I am scared to do any sort of PvP these days since I’m afraid of getting reported and banned, which would suck since I have invested so much into my character. I really don’t know what level of PvP is tolerated and what is considered griefing and zone disruption?
True but my concern is mass reporting. What if - say - 10 alliance members get mad and all mass right click report me. Won’t I be auto banned / squelched due to it being all automated?
Zone disruption is if you go and kill the NPCs over and over and over and over and never allow the Horde to quest. You have to be doing it for some time before it would count as Zone Disruption.
If you just do it once or twice and move on, you’re not doing anything wrong.
Killing lowbies is not going to get you in trouble.
Exploiting something to kill them will.
Again, if you corpse camp someone for hours on end, you can be whammed, because at that point you’re just harrassing them and being a d-bag.
So, basically… dont be a d-bag and youll be fine.
Though, given that you said you want to grief people… .d-bag detected.
Like I said PvP has a PvP solution. Now if you where on top of said South Shore buildings like people in Gad. Blizzard will knock you off and then give warnings.
Gank it up bro, gank it up. Just don’t be surprised if a few people hop on their alts and camp you for an hour out of spite. Such is life on a PvP server.
Non of that is against the rules as described. However, what is against the rules is zone disruption and terrain exploitation. Don’t do it. Do not prevent players from questing by killing NPCs repeatedly. It’s okay to do it 1 or 2 times but don’t over do it. Do not make it your reputation on doing this purposely to cause a zone disruption for hours. It’s not worth it.
The other is terrian exploitation. Do not go into any city or quest area to kill off NPC’s, guards, and players on a terrian that the game/players can’t not get you. For example, Tanaris is a prime example of this. The city has a lot of roof tops players can get on top of to pvp. Many players cast spells/bullets/arrows at NPCs/Players and the guards within the city can’t get to them. Even if you shoot at a player or npc you better not do it on a terrain they can not get you. It’s against the rules and can be grounds for bans. This screen shot was in another wow thread about the tanaris roof top camping. Just save yourself the trouble and never do this.
I remember rogues camping the cat for big game hunter and ambushing people as they pulled it.
Find people doing the robot chicken escort quests, you will know what to do when you find them (just right before it flags as complete too).
Find someone killing and skinning, after they loot, kill them and skin their corpses. (can camp any resource node and do this really)
Find where the timed quests are for opposing faction and well… yeah mess them up.
All those things have been done to me before, I can confirm 10/10 annoying. There are much worse things, but this is a respectable start for a rogue.
