I like the idea of housing and would use it.
I’m mostly playing classic versions but would definitely play retail just to do the housing, I just don’t want to have to get level capped.

Everything in this game has a level requirement so it’s safe to assume yes. I can’t think of a single thing that was newly introduced that you didn’t have to be max level or near max level to receive it. The only thing that comes to mind that goes to everyone without much fuss are like UI changes and we didn’t get much those for a long while til recently.
They may lock housing behind max level and owning the expansion that it is introduced in. Who knows. But that’s what I’m thinking. They did release an article talking about what to expect with housing but it didn’t really go into much detail on the specifics. The article mentions buying a house so there may be a cost limitation for lower level characters.
Not sure about level cap but may have to have Midnight (12.0) ordered to get it
I thought I heard it wouldn’t have a requirement. That all players would be open for it. I can’t find where I heard it at the moment (I think it was a Zepla video?), so it could be I just misunderstood what was being said, but my understanding was that there would be no arbitrary restrictions (level/gold pricing/etc)
If the housing is in the capital cities or somewhere thereabouts…there is zero reason for character level to have anything to do with it.
But I never put anything past Ion, even if he seems like hes learned hard lessons and is trying to make the game better.
From what I read (so the same information above…also reading is a strong word. I listen to youtubers instead of working), the people specifically tasked with housing development are actually FFXIV players as well as WoW players and were trying to design housing in a sort of response against how bad that game’s housing is.
From everything I heard, getting it out to all players seemed to be a top priority and the your level/content done goes towards the customization houses (like decoration trophies for achievements).
I would guess that in order to buy a House, you would need to own the Midnight Expansion and be a certain level.
That seems to be how things have been, and I understand that. They want people to buy the new expansion.
After that initial unlock, I imagine any lowbie on your account will have access to the House.
That’s how I see it playing out. But I don’t think there has been official word on it.
I’m sure there will be a level requirement, but I doubt it will be max level.
I’m thinking level 20 or 30 (or what’s the current requirement for transmog?).
Housing is a “Midnight feature,” but it’s widely expected to launch before Midnight and it’s an evergreen feature that pulls from the content of all expansions.
I doubt you’ll need to fully level a character (though, frankly, that’s a really small ask nowadays - just hit the Timewalking dungeon event right now and you’ll be 80 in no time), but you’ll want to keep playing the character to unlock and purchase new things for your house.
I guess it’s possible you’d be able to just buy WoW Tokens to get gold and buy most of your decorations from other players/vendors, but we know that some will be quest rewards, reputation rewards, etc. - even from legacy content.
I can see it possibly having a tiny one like lvl 10 or whatever. With as much time and resources Blizz is putting into this they likely want it to be as open as possible. I’m sure housing requiring lvl capped in Midnight would kill a lot of momentum for it.
Before you make your final purchase put a ball on the floor and see if it starts rolling off to one side or the other. This works in the real world so I see no reason why it wouldn’t work in WoW housing.
Won’t be surprised if it’s just Lv 10, the level you exit Exile’s Reach.
As of right now they haven’t announced any requirements or even said you need to buy the new expansion, Midnight. The way the roadmap they posted looks, housing is set to come out during between the end of TWW and Midnight, so one can assume pre-patch time.
If it has a minimum level, I would hope it is around level 10. However, I expect that many housing elements will cost a lot of gold.
I highly doubt this will be the case. You’ll most likely pick up a quest in Stormwind/Orgrimmar to get your house the first time and then all alts can go to them after that.
I’ve never heard of player housing in any game having a max level requirement.
They literally told us it’s for everyone. It’s even said twice in the article you listed.
This wouldn’t make much sense when housing is touted as for everyone.
As a part of our focus on wide adoption, we wanted to ensure that Housing is available to everyone. If you want a house, you can have a house. No exorbitant requirements or high purchase costs, no lotteries, and no onerous upkeep (and if your subscription lapses, don’t worry, your house doesn’t get repossessed!).
Not when it’s touted for everyone. This isn’t an expansion specific thing. This is a game wide addition.
