What’s everyone’s opinion on Hardcore eventually progressing to TBC? It’s quite clear Hardcore has a niche that scratched a lot of itches, I’m just wandering what’s the future for HC.
I know SF Hardcore is on the horizon early next year, but what about those who already have hit 60, do you think TBC Hardcore would be coming mid to late next year? Or is Hardcore going to be a niche seperate experience just to 60?.
Thoughts?

While I’d love to see Deathlog spamming with people getting crushed by the Fel Reaver I kind of doubt it for one reason and one reason only.
Currently if you die you can transfer to an era server. While if we are on TBC there are currently no TBC era servers. So they would have to make it so we transfer to progression (aka Cataclysm by the time we’d progress) however this causes many issues since you are trying to skip forward multiple expansions worth of patches on a character.
If anything I think hardcore progression servers would be more likely as they can just create new hardcore realms for cata.

Yes and no.
It takes a lot of effort to get to 60 on hardcore. That next 10 levels, and in Outland no less, would be a nightmare in a hardcore ruleset. Now, I’m not saying that I believe there is no interest, I am sure there is plenty, but sustaining enough interest to keep the game mmo’ish might be tough.
That said, there’s no reason to not give it a try and see how people respond. It could end up being a boon to the hardcore base. I would hope that they maintain a vanilla hardcore option as they currently do with regular classic.

As long as Defias doesn’t progress. I’m 60 on Defias. Upgrading the server to tbc would invalidate everything.

Progressing - no.
TBC Classic HC servers - yes.
Wrath Classic HC servers - yes.

Or they could just say game over. Many hardcore games don’t provide a safety net and people still are willing to play them.

The current servers were launched as Classic Era servers, and there is little if any chance they get upgraded in the future, to further this point, the servers were launched at the final patch (Naxx open) to eliminate any cost at maintaining/upgrades through the server life.
If there ever is any TBC servers launched, my guess is they would be fresh servers, and while I wouldn’t mind them, I don’t think we should expect to see them anytime soon, and think a HC version is even less likely.
While the hardcore concept has found a niche in Classic WoW due to the vastness of Azeroth and the extensive content it offers, it might be challenging to replicate the same experience in future expansions. The expansive nature of Classic WoW, with its 1-60 level range, provides a unique environment for hardcore play. In other expansions, where the level range might be limited to 10 levels or so, the hardcore experience could be significantly constrained. The essence of the hardcore challenge might be best suited to the intricate and expansive world of Classic Azeroth.
The only thing hardcore about wrath is the amor sets.
Otherwise IMO its the most boring, meta easy mode version of wow between classic and DF, barring a couple of raids.
I hope it doesn’t progress. There’s honestly noting “hardcore” about TBC and WoTLK. There’s so much power creep there that the leveling is super trivial.

I don’t think so and I certainly hope not. If people constantly die and have to reroll or just give up on HC, then there really isn’t a need to progress into BC or WotLK.
