Will factions still be in Shadowlands?

Haven’t been able to find any explanation about the future of factions (namely, Horde and Alliance). Hoping someone here is at blizzcon and has heard an answer and will actually tell me the truth (the longest shot I’m asking for).

It appears so… However, they don’t seem to have anything to do with the actual expansion.

I was kind of hoping for a third faction instead of the elimination of factions, but I guess Covenants are the solution?..

Cross-faction grouping/guilding is my main concern going forward. I don’t want to deal with another expansion of Alliance-side recruiting woes.

It’s been getting worse for a while but BfA was just another level with guilds going Horde and finding it impossible to keep a full roster.

This is kind of what I’m hoping, but it’s not explicit. But they seem loose enough their could still be cross-faction grouping between covenants as well.

It appears that the two factions will still exist as they are now, but Covenants will act as additional “optional” factions like Aldor/Scryers.

They didn’t say anything probably mean no change. Though, I guess covenants might play a role into world pvp.

Wouldn’t spreading the playerbase between four factions make things even worse, mechanically?

I’d definitely think so.

While we’re all busy saving the universe, “again” our stupid leaders will be busy screwing everything up again…

Most info will be announced tmrw

A third faction wouldn’t hurt things in the grand scheme of things you will have players who are hardcore Alliance, and same goes for Horde, but the new incoming crowed if there is any may wanna be neutral so wouldn’t be an issue.

i don’t think the covenants are meant to be big replacements of anything in terms of factions. They are supposed to be going into more detail with them though tomorrow. They remind me of the houses that were in elder scrolls morrowind

If I wanted to play another faction I’d just switch to Horde and solve all my recruitment problems though.

I want to have access to the full playerbase for game mechanic reasons I don’t think the Horde and Alliance should be dissolved and a third faction will just make gameplay worse in every way.

No the third faction would just be mercenary force playing either side that pays them more.

I don’t quite want factions to go away entirely, but I sure would love to see a reduced story focus (seems to be the case) and crossplay (unconfirmed).

It might not be like who’s hostile who. It could be similar to dark soul adding role to players. Even the system name is similar. Something like…

Bastion: Protector of soul. So, you get ping when someone on your faction get attacked. Successfully, defeating the attacker get currency.

Necrolord: just pvp in general.

Ardenweald: Watcher of the forest. Eliminating active pvp fighting in ardenweald.

Revendreth: Attacking and draining soul from npc in other lands. Other lands player will be warn when the area being attacked.

To make it work there could be some travel option. So, you could get to places in time.

I hope we get some news tomorrow.
