The Demon Hunter Fantasy has been gone for awhile now and could use some ‘rebranding’ (Get it)…
Demon Hunters have effectively been out of a job since Legion. Had no true role during battle for Azeroth or Shadowlands. The reimaging in my eyes suggests a newfound Philosophy about hunting Demons(Metaphor: Evil with the motive to threaten the innocent) Demon hunters band together on the Legion ship (WE STILL HAVE) close to the Death knight social space. using Runic Tattoo enchantments that could Recolor tattoos to a passive that inflicts a certain element in the middle of your chaos damage. Death Knights still have a purpose and were given freedom to have a purpose. Demon hunters haven’t gotten any lore that they’re really free agents of Azeroth
It’d be cool if Illidan said they need to stay Demon Hunters, as they lurk in the shadows trying to prepare their ‘Revival to glory’ – stating he has slain many more whilst as a warden of Sargeras, of who had come to investigate how to free him.
Then have Illidan say
"… But you need to become more than Demon Hunters … Demons were not the only force to investigate Sargeras for their own nefarious purpose. Nor will Demons be the only force of darkness seeking to claim Azeroth. You must hunt the void denizens that are malicious, merciless & cruel who seek to conquer all. The denizens of the light who seek to bind all to their will. Death that seeks to claim all to its secretive ethereal realms beyond the Shadowlands, and other powerful forces of grand magnitude.
Make no mistake, the titans may be foretold as the ‘cosmic force of order’ but WE are the cosmic force of balance! Go, and enact our will. Show them the folly of their ways, that we will claim this realm – Not them. Show our enemies, that to our eyes – (Most figuratively of cause) – That if they unwisely choose to stand before us as adversaries. To us, they are demons. And to that, show them: What. You. ARE!"
In correlation to such:
- This would be a great way towards a questline to creating more Demon Hunters in the name of Illidan’s message, needing more to hunt down nefarious forces as Demon Hunter numbers dwindle & become stretched thin
… - And as per above
Thus coming to the conclusion to teach their ways to other races, should they choose to dedicate themselves (after completing the simple questline) — providing the class of Demon Hunters beyond Blood Elves & Night Elves, so other races can show their worth in their order. - Put in an epic questline / starting zone for the new races of Demon Hunters for their journey (and show some who failed, falling to corruption or seeking to betray).
- Perhaps also put in a questline for the OG Demon Hunter races where you help out the new races of their order, so they don’t feel left out.
Maybe when dad aka Illidan comes back.
He’s just gone to get some milk and smokes.
They gave Demon Hunters an entire expansion.
That was epic writing for Illidan.
Unless it’s giving Demon Hunter to an actual good race they can stay in legion all I care
