let me repeat my question…
what exactly does classic have to offer that retail doesn’t already have? everything you mentioned exists now.
They will know who is Subbed for what though.
Retail was dying in Cata… WoD it died when it lost 50% of it sub base. 10+ million at launch and 5 million at the end of it. Which caused them to change metrics and hide Sub numbers. Then after they changed metrics is when the game turned into a garbage slot RNG machine to attempt to keep players logged in for longer. However it actually caused them to Unsub and play less. BFA a clear example of that with no gamer retention and Subs rumored to be below 2 mil which isn’t surprising.
If they really want players to play longer. They just need a great game like Vanilla which we are getting in Classic. It fills both metrics, Subs and play time. Blizzard had the formula for success and they for some reason abandoned it without knowing.
It’s a video of a player from Method who thought Classic was just nostalgia and then he explains why he was wrong and why he likes Classic.

i don’t have anything against classic… i’ll probably go play my 2H shaman again at some point. i just think it’s gonna be a huge rude awakening to a lot of players, seeing how much they whine about the dumbest things on retail.
It’s going to attract three kind of players:
1: The old players who prefer classic
2: The retail players who played classic and prefer it over retail
3: A small amount of people who only knew retail and seem to prefer Classic
The first two will make the majority of the Classic player base. as the ones who are hyped about it are the ones who experienced it and know how good it is.
They’re not releasing Classic for retail players, they’re releasing it for the millions of subscribers they lost over the years who quit because they don’t like retail

Retail isn’t even World of Warcraft. I also have a hard time even quantifying it as an MMORPG. So that is why I don’t play. It’s not WoW anymore and so poorly designed in all core aspects of an MMORPG.
Retail doesn’t have class design ---- Classic Does
Retail doesn’t have any RPG aspect that causes game immerision ---- Classic does
Retail doesn’t have class roles everything is homogenized ---- Classic clear class roles
Retail doesn’t have an economy, which is critical in any MMORPG ---- Classic does
Retail has the worst gearing we ever seen ---- Classic is infinitely better
Retail implemented Templates and now Scalling ruining PvP ---- Classic again way better
Retail has LFR and those features destroying community ---- Classic wins again
Retail doesn’t have talent trees ---- Classic does
Retail professions don’t matter ---- Classic they do

Classic gives you a rich MMO experience where your decisions matter where in Retail NOTHING MATTERS. It’s just a bad bad game on a scale of 1-10 it’s a big phat 1.
Retail is an unplayable game for anyone that loves World of Warcraft because it isn’t World of Warcraft. Some people like Retail and that is fine but they wouldn’t like WoW when it was WoW. They like this watered down version of the game that isn’t WoW.
Classic is a superior game in every way compared to Retail when it comes to an MMORPG and World of Warcraft.
Also this. You can’t pay me to play Retail. I want to play World of Warcraft so been waiting for a long time to play WoW again.

everyone’s entitled to their own opinion. while i don’t agree with some of your points or some of blizzard’s decisions over the years, saying classic is a superior game and retail’s unplayable is a far stretch.

Retail has the Faceless NPC effect.
Community engagement is non-existent outside your guild, because any stranger you meet will 99% never be seen again. This makes people think of others as NPCs, and guild recruiting is 100% on the Forums or other sites. LFD/LFR and even Mythic PuGs are almost completely silent and rushed.
As for Class Fantasy, “perfect balance” has resulted in so much cross pollination and homegenisation, that a Hunter’s pet can perform the unique abilities of every other class. Need a battle rez? There’s a pet for that. Need Heroism/Blood Lust? There’s a pet for that. Need to dispel magic? Every healer can do that. Need to remove a curse? Not in raids you don’t, because now mechanics that require dispelling are all magic.

Any fan of Classic doing what you are doing, but in the Retail forum, would have already been mass-reported for trolling, deservedly so.

You literally refused to watch a video by a retail player who was skeptical of Classic, just like you, but changed his mind when playing the beta.
