I was curious what his role will be now that he is no longer the lich king.
At the end of the Sylvanas book, sylvanas hears metal clanking behind her, and she feels hope, everyone assumes this is Anduin, but I think it may be Bolvar.
He considers himself neither alive nor dead, feels like he doesn’t really have a home to go to anymore, and I can see him playing the noble hero one last time to help all the souls that the Jailer damned.
It is most certainly Anduin. Anduin said he is not ready to go home yet and will be staying in the Shadowlands for a little while. Mograine and Bolvar also say it’s time for Bolvar to go be with his daughter and be a family man.
He only says the first part, that he is not ready to go home. He does not have to stay in the Shadowlands to not go home. That’s a huge assumption on players’ part. It’s always a possibility, as all things are I suppose, but I don’t see the point or narrative purpose of him staying there at this point.
I mean it’s pretty explicit. Especially when Sylvanas recognizes the “familiar clank of metal armor”. Anduin’s armor was referenced as “clanking metal” several times over the course of the book
I agree that this most likely refers to Anduin. It’s still a very large leap to assume that this means he’s staying the Shadowlands based on that alone. Maybe I haven’t seen the full context of the line, because what I did see only says this implied person was there. That tells us nothing of staying.
Calling that explicit is just wrong, and its an enormous assumption. It might still end up being the case, but it’s far from clear cut right now.
Also I see him ditching. He has been quite the deadbeat dad. Got quite a few years of payments to catch up on. If he don’t bail that is gonna catch up on him.
Dude couldn’t even send some monthly money. Tsk tsk tsk, shameful.
There’s a conversation between Bolvar and Mograine that implies the former is going to try and spend more time with Taelia, since they’ve been separated the whole time he was sitting on the Frozen Throne.
This leads to a power vacuum in Stormwind and Turaylon goes a bit loopy with power. When we go to get the legitimate seat of power back, it’s one last line from Sylvanas (and/or the finding of Nathanos) that convinces Anduin to join us again and a blitz on Stormwind to dethrone Turaylon is this expansion’s mini-raid.
We don’t know anything, honestly. For all we know, he’s in Mawsworn armor somewhere, locked away by the Jailer originally. His armor also does have metal on it. It could also simply be a description that may not match up as well as we think it would.
I just don’t see Anduin wandering the Maw or Sylvanas feeling hope with him there. Nathanos would bring her hope.
