Will Blizzard refund expansion purchase?

Some of the bits of lore are debatable, but a lot of it, I actually like.

Kael didn’t fall to KJ, the High Elves totally misunderstand his intentions. They think he ditched them, but as he puts it, “I don’t want them to sit on their hands waiting for me to solve their problems, and I’m not coming back until I have a solution to manathirst.”

I liked Burning Crusade, but some of it I wish went differently, Kael’s arc being one of them.

I remember once upon a time Blizz was nuts about shutting down pvt servers. I’m guessing either this isn’t that (since it’s up and running) or they no longer care?

Man. If this is a legit thing you can create? A whole separate server?

I want to play Gentarn WoW. That needs to be a thing.

They learned after Nostalrius I believe that the benefits can be outweighed by backlash.

… It also helps that if I’m not mistaken the TWoW server is hosted in Russia. Good luck getting their authorities to cooperate.

Out of genuine interest, did they have any resistance to the Alliance due to the whole purge that happened in Dalaran? I’m also surprised they don’t at least CALL themselves Blood Elves, even if they are not Horde. You’ve got me intrigued about turtle wow lol.

Oh, I’m not going to participate in any game where I have to be a nice elf.

The purge? Do you mean with Jailer Kasan in the Dalaran undercroft ordered by Lord Garithos? The implication seems to be that in the chaos following the fall of Silvermoon and the evacuation out of the Thalassian countryside, a lot of them just don’t know precisely what happened to Kael’s contingent or what they were up to besides “troubling stories about them drinking Fel and consorting with demons”. The Alliance at large seemed content to let bygones be bygones as Lord Garithos didn’t act with King Wrynn’s personal approval and the other races, if anything, were sympathetic.

At first Tyrande’s pretty chilly, at the worst, but then she remembers Kael from the forests of Lordaeron, offers a prayer for his safety(she doesn’t know what he’s done in Outland) and agrees to send supplies to help the High Elves survive.

The High Elves are called the Silvermoon Remnant. They reacted with disgust and concern to the idea of drinking Fel to keep the thirst away, given the long term physical and mental damages that could result. It doesn’t stop everyone— the Illidari Blood Elves near the High Elf settlement of Alah’Thalas do a lot of recruiting from the ones who are tired of suffering.

It’s the classic Alliance Classic story of outwardly seeming like things are orderly but if you read literally any quest text you quickly realize how close everything is to just exploding and I like that.

They also had people compose unique pieces of music for the new zones— you can find the Alah’Thalas tracks on YouTube and I gotta say some of them really slap.

Maybe I’ll give it a try sometime! Sounds interesting. Is the levelling experience any good?

Very much so. They’ve made some statistical differentiations from purist classic so that pretty much every class and specialization are a valid choice for every kind of content.

People still complain about Paladins, of course. :smirk:

You have a bit more in the way of options on where to go than purist classic because they added settlements and quests to areas that didn’t really have them. For example, Gilneas is a whole level 40-49ish zone with its own story, soundtrack, quests and dungeon.

And Swamp of Sorrows has an Alliance settlement it didn’t have before, Sorrowguard Keep.

I’ve had a good time. You can also play Hardcore if you’re like me and enjoy losing a hundred hours of work because of some Murlocs.

It’s only been a handful of months since you last played retail WoW, and really you only lose Lore Forum posting privileges without a subscription. Probably some other categories get locked off, but I wouldn’t know them off hand.

My credit card!

Our credit card, comrade.

If the Russians were smart, they’d create player housing.

Man, have you SEEN bloc-era buildings?

You don’t want their player housing. You think you want that, but you don’t want that.

In seriousness, they actually do have a guild hall system where I believe you can petition the GMs to make a physical area for your guild, generating buildings and staffing them with vendors and so on.

I’ve run into a couple of said guild halls out in the world. One of them was especially useful for me as an HC player in Duskwood because they were positioned outside Raven Hill but were safe from most dangers, Stitches included.

Did someone say Duskwood?

They’ve refunded me but it was when they banned multiboxing like 2 days after I bought 3 copies of Shadowlands :joy:

Imagine being forced to play Shadowlands three times.

Is that still a thing?

Multi-boxing in and of itself is not banned, but the rule changes and Blizz monitoring greatly reduced the ease and effectiveness of being a multi-boxer, so it may as well be banned.

Yeah you can have multiple accounts open but you can’t control multiple characters at once.

So having a character on the AH non-stop while you raid or whatever on your main? All good.

Controlling 3 goblin hunters to farm island expeditions? No.

Controlling 20 elemental shaman to gank people? * Hell no *

You know, that gives me a dumb idea.

An MMO … where you control up to four characters who all have basic AI, but you program them to do certain abilities tied to the commands of your ‘primary’ character. Press 1 for a strong melee ability, they’ll all do something that you’ve programmed, be it sundering armor or casting spells that slow or daze or bleeding attacks. Press 2 for defensive, one will grab aggro, the second will heal you and the third will do something else.

You’re effectively controlling your own party and they’d move out of AoEs and avoid hazardous effects, but you’ve got to gear them up, manage their needs and handle their affairs. Basically a nightmarish Brundlefly-ing of WoW, the SiMs and Baldur’s Gate III.

Can’t be any worse than Blizzard’s own lore adherence. I used to be aggressively against AU-Lore. Now I’m willing to let people cook now that the Official Lore has turned into Transformers Fan Fiction.
