When do you think they’ll unlock them all by default for new players (if at all)?

Uh, we don’t know. It could possibly be couple years or next expansion.
It may happen in one of the next expansion’s patches. That’s likely imo. Ion said there would be smaller, more frequent patches.
I hope never; I require the game system support my position that Mechagnomes do not exist.

Would be nice if they just made them so all you had to do was the associated quest.
Some races like KT and Zandalari basically require you to do all of BFA

I don’t think doing a two hour questline for a new race is an unreasonable requirement.

Makes sense that someone who earned them all previously would want to gatekeep.

It’s… a leveling zone questline. 
You do a few quests, you get a free race.

Yes, they do. I wish we got the Ulduar looking models but nope.

You go to the embassy, are told to investigate the different races, you click on some banners, figure out the requirements, and then you go and do some quests
They were part of the story for the zones they required, so… you do the quests that you very much so would need to do to even understand why they are part of the Alliance or Horde, something you need to do for all contextual classes and races in WoW (except monks, they are the only ones that requires no context to get access to)
Don’t Kul’Tirans and Zaldalari require you to do all of BFA?
Right now it doesn’t seem likely to ever happen, but anything is possible so who knows.
Its called an allied race for a reason and they are not the primary race also they start at Level 10 and with 1 gold and with a few bag space.
And also, they are extremely easy to unlock now versus back then when they still had reputations tied to them.
By the time they do you could have already gotten all of them several times over

I imagine they’ll eventually make it so you just have to get a Character to like 10 lvls of max and then you can go do the recruitment scenarios next expansion when they replace BFA with Dragonflight as going off beta Dragonflight seems to be being set up to like replace BFA as the default levelling experience after Exiles Reach
Didn’t they drastically reduce the requirements to unlock these? I remember doing them in BfA before they reduced anything and it took awhile but was something to do then.

They took away the reputations
Yes, they did away with the exalted reputation requirement. Now you basically just do their little zone questline, a recruitment quest and then you’re all set. I think that only one that’s a pain is…Kul’tiran?
