Okay so I’m a still fairly new to WoW myself, I started playing back in December and I’ve been trying to get into playing a Demolock & Affliction. So far not the most fun class I’ve had the privilege to play and was wondering when it might get better like some other classes tht age like fine wine; and from what I’ve gathered around the internet and forums Warlocks absolutely suck starting out . Most enemies will be wiped in dungeons by your fellow party members before you can even cast as they’re extremely slow casters; and they only become great at endgame for raids/Mythics and maybe some PvP. I’m still giving the class the benefit of the doubt as my demolock is currently lvl 34; however imo they lack variety & flavor compared to other classes, most of their abilities revolve around passives, some of which are utterly useless until you unlock the main ability tht it correlates with such as the Fel Guard.
For some reason many classes have passives tht are useless until you unlock the main ability they correlate with around lvl 60, why Blizzard did this I don’t know, imo it would be more fun to have the main ability and slowly make your Fel Guard or whatever grow more powerful as you lvl to unlock the passives. As a solo player you get screwed out of certain abilities as well like the portal to summon players (I guess it’s mostly meant for raids) or to summon greater demons it requires other warlocks as well and a player must sacrifice themselves to do it.
Curses seem pretty irrelevant and few in number, not sure if they had a better variety in previous patches before I started playing.
I’ve had way more fun playing as an Unholy Death Knight, and it became really fun around lvl 50, you can summon 2 permanent minions and two abilities give you the option to summon several undead ghouls to aid you so you essentially have a small army, and imo has great survivability especially for solo content, and the Defile AoE is pretty nice too. Fury Warrior is another I greatly enjoy, they have great survivability as well and have a variety of abilities which makes them fun, Hunter isn’t too bad either.
Warlocks in my opinion simply lack flavor and could use a rework to make them more colorful and not so boring. It’d be nice if they could use portals as well similar to mages, or most spell casters for tht matter it’d be nice to have the portal ability. Giving them more instants & mobility and reducing cast times for some abilities would also be great; again this is just my opinion tho. Having a class primarily revolve around endgame content can certainly be deterring for new players. I’ve heard over the years Warlock got a ton of nerfs, broken rotations, etc and need a rework, not sure how true it is but they definitely feel lacking starting out. Hopefully Blizzard will start showing Warlock some love, doubtful but one can hope.
The class just sucks in general. Yes I know demonology is pretty strong at the moment but it isn’t the best either. Not that it needs to be.
My gripes really are about how we’re supposed to be the tanky caster but we aren’t. Or how we’re supposed to be the hard hitting caster but we aren’t.
So we get all the turret penalties without excelling in the areas we’re supposed to. In order to compete as a warlock you need to put in considerably more effort than your contemporaries. That’s why warlock representation isn’t that good. Nobody wants to play the inferior specs.
Even Kalamazi has posted videos about how each warlock spec has been struggling in different areas and has made many suggestions on what could be improved. I’ll take his word on it over yours. I don’t think the class is completely broken, but there are definitely a good few adjustments that could be made to significantly improve the gameplay and performance of each spec and the class overall.
No one is saying there cant be improvements on certain things but its all in the context. I rewatched Kalamazis video on 10.2 affliction and in that video he even says Aff looks good its just not better than demo.
Whats happening is people are taking Kalamzi saying something completely out of context and using it as their reason for xyz.
Again I am not saying the class is perfect and no changes needed. I am saying players like Uggolock and Phoenickz its a learn to play issue not a spec issue as well as their “fixes” are just flat out terrible
Really, one of the main problems of Warlocks is their underwhelming capstones in the Warlock Tree as only Soulburn (despite having no effect on Soulstone) having value whereas Inquisitor’s Gaze is only taken because it’s there and Grim Feast isn’t taken at all!
Perhaps alternatives could be a talent that makes Shadowfury instant cast upon a targeted mob and, perhaps, instead of Inquisitor’s Gaze we could have a Demon Eye that Drains Life from mobs and channels that health into the Warlock allowing him to keep casting.
nope that ship died with MOP, it was PEAK fantasy and fun for warlock and its never even remotely come close to that after the pruning, and looking at the horrible hero talents < worst of the game so far> its looking like nothing will change in War Within.
Yeah the hero talents are looking pretty regular villager like.
It just looks like additional talents that could have been placed in the regular trees. Adding that title name just for flavor.
Guess gotta see how this develops. I swear they better not bring another low long cast spell with no synergies to the specs. Just does xyz more damage and maybe a soul shard proc. Lol
At the bear minimum im hoping these hero talents have some amazing cool designs, being that it seems they are being design from past hero/villians.
