Yes, BGs will be cross-realm. Even if you factor in the PVE servers, horde still outnumber alliance but a small margin. Then you need to factor in the playstile of horde vs alliance players: horde definitely have a higher proclivity to PVP, partially due to the better racials drawing people to it.
So, while all the PVP Alliance are being insta-queued into the BGs, thus removing them from the world zones, the Horde will be out and about continuing the mass destruction of all we love and hold dear while waiting for their queues to pop (with none of the PVP alliance free to fight them off!)
Does anyone see this playing out differently? If so, how?
Blizzard did an excellent job on recreating the true vanilla experience. The forums are just as full of QQ as they were 15 years ago. It’s like I’ve been sent back in time.
The only thing that’s missing is vanilla specific class forums. Those were the good stuff.
Hey man, I’ve fixed the issue on my end by rerolling on a PVE server, so no harm no foul. But my question still stands, which you seem unable to answer or contribute to the discussion.
Hahaha. What are you smoking friend? They might have 5 minute queues starting out on the 10th when they first launch and there is hype. Every week after that it will slowly climb, and climb till I reason it reaches about 30-45 minutes. Could go even higher.
In BFA, the Alliance total population is slightly larger than horde, and horde queue times are still significantly longer. In BFA, Horde can queue mercenary mode to fight on Alliance side for a faster queue, this will not exist in classic. Horde queue times are going to dwarf Alliance queues and that is all there is to it.
Someone told me that the retail q for horde is 15 minutes. I don’t know if this is true, but I know for sure the q for horde will be longer in classic than in retail. I don’t see why people think it’s going to be so even, there are obviously more horde pvpers than alliance.
To answer your question then - things will be much better for people on PvP servers.
It’s not just the queue times that matter. A lot of what’s going on now is that WPvP is the only game in town for honor now.
My guess is there’ll still be the occasional pvp raid, there’ll always be ganking, but things will settle down some. BRM will also simmer down a bit as more people finish up BRD and LBRS.
Perhaps on some servers, but anything sitting at a 60/40 or worse split is most likely not going to notice a big change from how it is now. The issue is predominantly disproportionate population distribution. I’m curious if Blizzard has anything in the works to alleviate that.
You’re right it won’t fix anything and I said that since day 1. Unfortunately no one will believe the truth until it hits them in the face then they’ll say “no one saw this coming wtf!!”
In retail yes, lol. The queue times were getting so horrible that Mercenary mode was added to help keep them in check. Technically it also allows Alliance to fight on Horde side, if it somehow ended up that there weren’t enough Horde queueing, but in practice that never happens.
I believe that currently the bulk of L60s (who want PVP gear) have only one thing to do besides raid, and that is farm levelers for HKs. No doubt the vast majority of them would rather not have to hunt down these (pitifully easy) kills, but would rather have PVP in a box so they can do the rank grind in a controlled environment.
Myself, while I love WPVP, see the above as a really bad experience. The most meaningful WPVP to me beyond raiding faction leaders, is WPVP that happens naturally when out in the world doing open would stuff. Those being motivated solely for farming HKs from levelers is garbage PVP. Both factions do it, on every server (with a nod toward it being worse on lopsided ratios).
Once BGs come out, the majority of the leveler farming in open world will cease, but populations are high enough that open world PVP will still happen.
Yes, people like me who enjoy the wPvP, who don’t mind having to get through a horde of alliance to get to a dungeon.
People who dont cry and rage quit when the opposite faction has a town or fp on lock.
People who don’t mind that maybe you’ll have to get up at 4am to turn rep items at Thorium Point.
