Will Arcane Mages be good?

Arcane Mages haven’t been that great for a little while imo.

I hope that changes in Dragonflight.

Arcane will never be good.

My guess is no. Mostly repackaged Shadowlands with easier access to build options through the talent tree vs legendaries, covenants and conduits.

I doubt we’ll see much in the way of fundamentally overhauled specs.

That being said, the Rogue love child has gotten some new things. So maybe Mage, Blizzard’s second favorite, will get some interesting new options.

Always wanted Arcane to lean more into the time-based magic, but now it seems Evoker is doing that.

I also really liked how Arcane was trying to sell the feeling of being so powerful that your mana is just being burned through and you can’t possibly sustain this power so you need to dump charges and recover for a bit.

I think that’s a cool idea on paper it just needs to be fleshed out more.

Don’t forget Havoc. Incredibly lazy design with awkward anti-synergy for both crit and mastery.

At least Havoc is usually good, and that lazy design also means it’s simple to play. Arcane definitely needs attention first, then Feral which is also good but complicated and niche, then Havoc.

Huge missed opportunities and feels like an incomplete spec, though.

I just want them to make arcane melee… so bad…
use build mana and use it for amazing melee strikes.

summon your illusions and all of you jump in for a magical strike.

This game doesn’t need to sacrifice more range specs to crowd melee anymore, evoker is finally bringing our numbers back to what they were in vanilla.

i think it should be ranged and melee a mix of the two… there are no classes like that in the game… maybe enhance shaman … but not really

Enhance, UHDK, survival hunter. All a mix of melee and range. UH has clawing shadows for range, survival has aspect of the eagle and bombs.

I wish arcane was more mobile. The plant-in-place and gun-turret gameplay is rather tedious.

Unfortunately, it sounds like if we want to play a mobile ranged dps we should reroll hunter or maybe evoker.

enahanced has range but you mostly use it upclose…Unholy is still mostly melee… and gross…
survival doesnt fit the niche…

a magic melee jump in jump out to survive class doen’t exist in wow.

Frost is relatively mobile. You wanna try to stick near your rune, but there are a lot of instant casts.

Honestly, I’d prefer it didn’t. I made a mage to play a caster, I’d be pretty irritated if they stole one of those specs for melee. Keep mages as casters.

ok get over yourself you arent the only one who plays mages…
i want a mobile mage… that can get into melee and teleport out…
you have two mage specs that sit that and dish out damage… feel free to play those.

I would go nuts if they made blood mages lol
