Removing annoyances are things you find in patches, not defining expansion features. Dragonriding could’ve been a feature of Legion. Any expansion we have onwards is just going to feel like a worse version of Legion.
bigger, with a cool epic storyline that concludes a 15 year old story with the legion and sargeras. class art tier sets, 12 class storylines. good mage tower
Better in that it had way more content and class fantasy than what we have now. And I get Legion had its issues, but they could’ve been resolved in patches rather than having it be marketed as “expansion features”
FWIW, those worse versions were BfA/SL. DF is just merely adapting to move past that dark era, both in game and out. I get what you’re saying what DF is doing is more like ‘patches’ but they are also trying to release small things more frequently and that is not a bad thing.
We just have to see what their first major patch update looks like to get an idea of where things are going.
I liked WoD, it had good raids and pvp. That train gave me many of laughs. I grew tired of WoW attempting to get that Speargun. I was raiding every tier every week and seen it only drop twice before I went to play something else.
The numbers speak for themselves. You can have your opinions, but objectively speaking, Legion performed way better than any of those expansions you’ve listed.
The problem is not the systems, the problem is that Blizzard never learns from its mistakes.
In Legion begins the nightmare of AP farming.
With all the problems that this brings.
3 weapons that level up separately, which means that you have to farm x3.
Another added problem is that AP is not per account.
And the last big problem is that Legendaries are obtained in a totally random way and you couldn’t help your friends either.
Do you want to help your healer friend ?
Good luck to you.
You get the BiS Legendary from Holy while your Main Spec is Shadow and you will cry tears of blood for weeks.
All that is fixed in the latest Legion patch.
ANYONE WOULD THINK that every system that comes into the game from that point forward is going to have such fixes from the start.
But it didn’t.
History repeated itself in BFA and it was even worse in Shadowlands.
And the same thing is happening in Dragonflight with professions.
Either of those 2 expansions would have been a success or perhaps less hated if they came from the beginning with all the fixes and none of their hindrances.
I agree and they need to follow what they said in the pass to bring the player and not the class. It should even be bring the player and not the spec. The last few years I have been in altaholic mode. I grow tired when around the 3rd character doing AP, Rep, etc. It should all be account bound, make alt building ez.
I mean, I’d argue DF is superior to legion right now, if we’re comparing the expansions first season, we need to remember legion on launch had a lot of issues, while DF has some for sure, in terms of quality I think DF S1 is better.
That being said, legion turned it around and became pretty loved ones it got polished out, which DF still needs to live up to. Guess we will have to wait and see.
And that is my main point. By the time people got sick of the Artifact grind, BfA was already set with Azurite grind and SL was already in development for the Anima grind. They had no chance to pivot.
It’s why DF is currently in the state its in because they don’t want to lock an expansion down like they did with those two.
I wouldn’t say they don’t learn, but it takes them way, way too long to listen.
Dragonflight is not better than Legion. Classes were designed better in Legion. An evoker, a class that you play, would have class tier art, artifact weapons and appearances, a custom class mount, and an entire class order hall. Do you have that in Dragonflight?
