These breakups are sad. The People who invested and dedicated their whole lives into the Masterpieces of these projects, and then leave is sad. I am so very sorry for the rest of the community, and their cruel and sometimes evil behavior. And also for mine as well during a time in my life when trauma is all that dictated my embarrassing behavior, and believe me I feel embarrassed afterwards. We’re all sick individuals just trying to escape the brutality and monotony of life and the sickness of our own world, and our own conscious awareness witnessing what this crap called Mainstream media tells us, or what and when the youtube algorithm shows all these weird videos on our playlists that we watch out of boredom. I could go on about how hard it’s been over the years and during those years the new release of a Blizzard title coming to my rescue and bringing peace of mind and heart in a time when there was none, and it having a huge positive effect on life around me when suffering from the PTSD, major anxiety, and depression.
This is going to seem like a very odd leap with a time machine, but hang in with me for a second. It’s awesome to see you guys succeed, yet it’s very difficult to witness a loss like Blizzard North cut from the family tree even when Diablo 2 became the gem it is today. Or I could talk about the tears when our beloved friend and genius writer/creator Chris Metzen decided to part ways after being a pivotal piece in this puzzle of geniuses and friends, along with Mike Morheim heading the team and steering the ship. And now Carlos Williams among so many countless team members vanishing without a trace left and right. Sometimes I don’t know if you all have any idea what Blizzard means to most of us. Don’t let the judgments and harsh criticism of a few nay sayers ruin the lives of so many of us fans and friends.
I don’t know the part of management that has its orders to cut branches from the tree, but I am sorry you had to do what you had to do, that’s probably why Mike ended up leaving, just making my assumption out loud I don’t know the atmosphere I don’t pretend to follow every little detail on the internet that covers the beast of Blizzard. But for those managers who are empathetic and have a soul, management is the worst when you have to let go someone you’ve come to see as a friend, or who have finally started bonding with at or out of the work place.
Now when it comes to these players of your games or maybe and I mean hopefully not maybe co-workers is that sucky people can ruin a good thing from the inside out and it shouldn’t be like that. But maybe those sucky people don’t have to be sucky if when you guys are coming together to make projects you hire a really good team of therapists and psychologists/psychiatrists to get you guys through the rough times and deadlines these rabbit hole publishers put on you. There really needs to be some kind of way to tell them to back off of you with their vile-forceful time constraints/communication and turn it into something logical that people can work with to get ahead of and keep a conflict from happening (idk maybe letting you guys play games at work, go golfing or hiking, while lanning for work weeks instead of monotonous work). Pulling 100 hour work weeks is asanine. I know it first hand, it is unhealthy and it can cause physical or mental breakdowns that can last months, or in some cases life times…
Now to sum up this whole post which has been to be motivation for those who are thinking of letting this ship crash and burn, don’t let it crash and burn. The evolution of the game after all, has been that of the players posting what they want to see in game, their comments in trade chat about what they want to see in the game, and guild chat which later gets posted on forums about what they want to see in the game. It’s your project don’t listen to these people. I remember what Blizzard used to stand for, they would go silent after making an announcement. And people would keep asking and clawing at the doors like zombies, and you would just be working on your project forever and ever and you released it when YOU felt like it. Those were the good ol’ days. Like when I watch interviews of employees discussing the conception of WoW and relinquishing about how they’d be playing Ultima Online together after hours or playing Magic The Gathering for days on end. During those times when you had all of that positive energy, you guys were brainstorming and coming up with the best and greatest ideas you possibly could without even knowing it. My best memory will always be the only time my dad let me stay home from school. from 1999 till 2004 I went to the gaming store every week and would ask when WC3 was coming out, and the day it said it was being released and my copy was reserved, my dad took time off work to drive me to the store pick it up, and he let me stay home ALL day. He actually let me play hookie to play the best damn RTS in my mind EVER. My dad is a hard “rabbit” (insert_donket?lawl) about school and studying and never missing a beat or taking a day off and he let me stay home to play one of your awesome, fantastic games.
It makes me sick to scan/lurk forums and all people doing is complaining or hating on your company or you cm’s or anyone who works for Blizzard (except if they really are a rabbit hole. I know one that owes me an apology for making fun of me for waiting 4 hrs b/c raid night and my acct was hacked and him and people behind him lol’ing hard). I’m sorry you all have to go through the hate.
I really wish I could just give you all hugs and tell you you’re not only doing a good job, but you’re doing God’s work without even thinking about it. You’ve saved many lives, prevented many school shootings, caused many marriages and children to be born, you’ve stopped conflicts, and brought together people who never would of been friends otherwise.
So the next time someone says you guys are this or that, think of what I just wrote right there. Blizzard is a powerful entity in our current reality that has caused a lot of good for us, and the negativity of the players who are unhappy with their life or your game just need to take time off or take a good hard look at their life and try to find a better way to overcome their challenges then hurting someones feelings and/or financial security.
I love Blizzard. I love the artists who have spent day and night to create these amazing environments out of thin air. They just blow me away anytime I am exploring a zone and the music kicks in. I don’t care what the haters say/think. To me they are bullies, and I feel sad for you as individuals that you have to take your anger out on everyone else in the world. Take that negative energy and do something positive with it. Go pay it forward some how either in game or in real life. Just don’t say so much negative things and say such cruel things to people with 0 accountability. It’s not right. Develop a morale compass and some empathy. I promise it will not only change your life, but people will appreciate you for it.
And also to Blizzard, thank you for still creating content for games that are past their prime even when you don’t have to, it really kicks behind and you’re teams are very special for doing it. I’m not trying to kiss your rabbits
here, I am just trying to be a small light in an area with a lot of darkness being spread around up and down left and right as of now. I get what you all are going through and you don’t have to go through it alone. As long as you have someone on your side, and as long as someone loves you, you don’t have to go through this alone as awkward as this has all sounded. Thank you tp the best of the WoW community for being kind to me when I’ve needed it the most. Best of luck out there and let’s keep supporting our favorite game please.
