Technically we did/do the VE through Alleria… /shrugs/ Mah’gar I would consider from like helping them in WoD,etc.
It makes me more justifiying to earn it. It sticks with lore a bit. You are earning a trust with them. Blizzard isn’t going to hand allied races over on a silver platter. Like everyone else has said. The legion rep got a boost in BFA. Makes you feel a little more accomplished to earn them. Yeah its a grind but its worth it in the end.
That could be done with a 2 hour quest line
There’s no time gating on the main quest lines for Legion reputation, and a reputation boost also. I think you have to get past that, as the developers have other thoughts on this subject. I really don’t see it changing in the short term.
Given the amount of time that this has been around, even the most casual of casual players should have had time to unlock a few of the older allied races.
do you want to pay $15 to grind rep or do you want to pay $15 a month and by allied races from the store?
I disagree with you that they need tk be unlocked.
However
I would also not object to an extremely lengthy quest line for allied races of a previous expansion that grants you rep for each quest completed. If you manage to complete the quest line before meeting the rep requirements itnis unlocked.
Note this is not for current content. So in this example would only apply to Legion allied races.
This gives another option to unlock them and does not affect current game allied races
Yes they will be.
The community has accepted it as a standard so it will continue to be like that since the DEVs haven’t really stated anything otherwise.
In the past year I have earned everything that I have grind for . Unlocking all Ally races . Having the right to fly by doing pathfinders , but some of you players want everything handed to you . Like a true snowflake . ( People who wants everything for free . )
imo i think it’s the sad truth. the rep grind isn’t hard but what makes it annoying is it can be gated by WQ’s which are on time limits or like vulpera and the mechagnomes they are gated also by patch release which tbh makes no sense.
i do grind the rep btw but this is a feature i agree sucks especially in bfa where somtimes i want to transfer to the opposing faction ( alliance ) but since i rarely play alliance anymore i have no rep for the allied races and the rep doesn’t transfer over. these are pretty dumb features imo.
i have slight hope that one day they will learn people on both sides are kind of tired of this bs. like i said the rep isn’t hard to farm just time consumming and extremely boring. i usually farm the rep mainly for flying purposes outside of that i wouldn’t go out of my way
Because all the rest of us who earned them by doing the “rep grinds” or as i call it doing the standard leveling quest chains. That’s more than ample reason for the way to earn the right to play them not to change.
Personally, I’d make two changes to the whole allied race system:
First, I’d make paired unlocks. For example, if you unlock Kul’Tirans you also unlock Zandalari Trolls, if you unlock Vulpera you also unlock Mechagnomes. It would give players more incentive to give the other faction a shot, more incentive than needing to grind on a character they don’t want to play to unlock one they do.
Second, I’d remove the rep requirement for Allied races once the rep required is more than one expansion in the past. So, when Shadowlands hits all the allied races that require rep from Legion would be available to everyone. It just seems ridiculous to make people grind two expansion old content just to play a race. And it would give more options to new players, and again, give current players incentive to play the other faction if there’s a race they want to play.
I kinda hope so, which is ironic considering my original stance, but i like them as prestige rewards.
I believe they said they are considering reducing the requirements though. So there is some hope.
Well, the lore reason I believe is that you need to prove to them that you are as much as their ally as they are your ally. Which means building up a good reputation.
I am a mixed mind about Allied Races in general, on one hand I do not mind the “grind” as I don’t really play as if it is a grind. As in, if I just do the content, I will eventually get to where I am going anyway. I think of it as a long time goal instead of a short term grind. But that’s me.
On the other hand, I do emphasize with those who dislike this system, because not everyone is gonna like rep grinds.
I suggest just doing the rep grinds on days where the rep has an emissary to give that sweet big boost of rep for doing 4 WQs for it. Then find something more fun to do in the mean time. I am currently working on unlocking all the Legion Class Hall stuff on this Rogue. Just need two more pieces to unlock the Transmog set. Which, unfortunately is a rep grind. ;_; But hey, I’ll get there eventually.
I did what Blizzard wanted me to do. Bought the expansion. I’d like to roll a KT, but currently have not done the requirements. I decided to wait until I was ready instead of crying on the forums.
Sorry about your rut, been there done that.
However, you can’t expect reputation based rewards to made available with no grind because of your “rut”.
I think many people who did put in the time would be pissed!
So if you are not selfish and think of others first this will make sense to you.
Cheers
I’m just getting the races I want and I’m done. Not even trying to get pathfinder for BfA. This expansion just sucks and feels like a drag.
How is it entitlement to want to be able to play something that you already paid for? I’d be pretty pissed in RL if I bought WoW but then had to befriend a Blizzard employee before I could play it. This isn’t a skin/armor or a mount, which I’m all for people having to grind rep for. Its an entire race. An integral part of an RPG.
Also the rep grind is a cheap and easy cop out from Blizzard to not have to design meaningful content to be able to unlock the ARs. I don’t think people would be irritated or in OPs case burnt out if they decided to lock the ARs behind actual quest lines(even a decently long one) instead of tedious, boring and useless WQs.
Alliance doesnt really get allied races. They just get reskins of their current races. Void elves are the exception.
Horde by far has a more diverse roster of allied races. Hell, races in general.
Yes, they will always be behind a rep grind.
Don’t be like the silly people who think they will change that some day.
Let me flip it for you, as a casual who really LIKES rep stuff:
“Will I always only be able to get the best gear from Mythic + or Raiding? I don’t like that stuff! I should just get it!”
ugh, I hate when people just want things handed to them ![]()
