Will Addons work on GeForce now?

Will I be able to use apps like curseforge or any other to use addons with wow on GeForce Now?

I had to google what GeForce was. Turns out I have it and can confirm addons will still work.

From brief googling around that would be up to GeForce/Nvidia since with cloud gaming it doesn’t access local files on your own computer and also with cloud gaming you don’t get your own dedicated rig, so it seems like the answer is “no”.

Apparently you can’t even save your graphics settings unless you’re on the “Ultimate Tier” for $20 a month, so I doubt they’d do all the addons that WoW has also

GeForce Now is a cloud gaming service. WoW will be added to it in June.

I thought it was the NVIDIA driver program.

That’s GeForce Experience for updates and whatnot.

GeForce Now is cloud gaming.

Usually with Geforce now in another game I just had to redownload all addons every single time.

Gotcha. Appreciate the clarification. Thank you.

No problem! I had to go look it all up, too. Like… twice. Because I’m old and had no idea what I was reading. LOL

Your google skills are… lacking.

That’s going to be … interesting.

Seeing that WoW without addons is a legitimate exercise in torture, even though the default UI has apparently gone a long way towards alleviating it (e.g., you don’t really need auction house scanner addons in retail anymore unless you want to track prices right there in the field without waiting to visit an AH).

I’m surprised Microsoft even had it put on the nVidia service, unless the idea is to get guinea pigs for an addon-less WoW (I mean, hasn’t this game more or less utilized the playerbase as test subjects for Elune knows how long now lol) in consideration of a potential future release on Xbox - which, apparently, has been on the “want to do” list for quite some time but has yet to get past initial mulling over, but seeing that ATVI is officially a Microsoft brand now and WoW’s biggest competitor made its Xbox debut this spring, this might be rather more of a going concern now (and, of course, a console release would also need to be addonless).

I haven’t played with add-ons for like 10 years.

I installed WeakAuras for the first time at the start of Dragonflight specifically to track when Soup and Siege started (before the game had its own timers). It broke after like 2 weeks and I never bothered updating it again. Add-ons are a gigantic hassle and completely unnecessary.

(Not an argument for removing them. I’m glad folks like them. Just saying it’s not torture playing without. The game is excellent.)

Exactly. Addonless Wow isn’t that bad. I think right now the only add-ons I have going are TomTom and paste for when I’m hunting something down, and DBM when I wanna do some raiding.

Since GeForce Now wouldn’t be my main way to play the game that isn’t that bad at all. It would be so I can play when I’m away from the house. I don’t think anyone hardcore mythic raiding now needs GeForce Now to play WoW. I would start using GeForce Now to do anything that crazy, but being able to play when I’m away from home or my PC, like at work on lunch it’s a great thing

Lord, please bless us with WoW on Game Pass next, so that we may drop this measly $15/m sub and instead subscribe to the superior $17/m option that allows us to play day-one titles without needing to spend $70 to see if we like it or not.

Currently no, they are looking into how to get addons with the cloud service. Keep an eye on their updates, they clam to eventually get addons for WoW.

Hey, just sharing that GeForce NOW for more than 25 of the top WoW addons today, powered by CurseForge. They’ll stay configured across sessions and updated without a CurseForge account.

Full disclosure, I’m the community lead at NVIDIA for GeForce NOW (and a returning player after a few years away). Sorry to shill. But we’re hoping to get the word out and hear from more WoW players about what addons are most important so we can potentially expand the preinstalled options.

Thanks!

Can I copy over my addon settings from my desktop to cloud?
