Will A Feral Druid Find a Raid Spot?

Sure, you just may need to search longer and wider.

as an off tank that switched to cat when not needed - maybe. As pure cat - only if raid really doesn’t care about speed and ready to spend 5 hours in MC

Yes.
It depends on the guild as they are not interchangeable.
We have a warrior and druid switch off as MT.
Druid has such issues with bag real estate as he cats or heals as needed if his bear butt is not required.

All solid guilds will have a bear tank in the lineup and I would encourage you to focus on that - as Tanks are needed - just be ready to do a bit of dps when needed or off-heal/decurse situation-ally.

There are fights that a bear Tank has a huge advantage as the primary tank, and there are a few fights where we are OT/pickup the adds/innervate, decurse, massive utility and dpsers.

As a pure feral dps you will have a much harder time finding a spot as your dps will be middle of the road to low even with decent gear.

Speaking as a BWL geared Bear tank in current content.

Lol, yes. Ferals are amazing. There will be, however, more competition for the spots than you think.

sigh

i want to dps

i dont mind tanking, i loved tanking on my paladin during cata, admittedly, i was only doing dungeons…

but

it was still fun

Yes feral is a welcome welcomed build in raid. We rogues love your leader of the pack. It’s a bigger dps gain than you may think, 3% does not sound like a lot but it’s actually very good for dagger rogues.

Much easier as a bear tank but there are plenty of guilds that will take a cat. It’s already been said but a cat doing 300-400 dps while also giving 3% Crit to a full group of rogues/fury warriors and throwing out some heals/battle rezzes/innervates is pretty valuable. And just like a bear tank that can dps as needed a cat can OT as needed.

If you try hard you can out dps alot of raiders. I would go in as a tank / dps. I cat dps /off tank and it works out just fine. Pull your weight and you should get a spot in most raid guilds

How good are you, OP? You can do great as a DPS druid but it is a spec that can’t be half-assed, and you better be prepared for a lot of effort and learning.

Not in a super tryhard guild but i am feral and having fun. Ferals dps rotation is interesting even by todays standards as you manage procs/combo pts/energy/mana.

I tank heal and dps In BWL depending on fights/pulls. 3 piece T2 helps a ton with our huge mana pool from heart

I am actually very good when I play with two hands, but due to reasons, i probably play with one hand 70% of the time

and it shows

I am considering an mmo mouse, and hoping for pad support in the future

One hand might make it a little tough for dps as a Druid. In order to be competitive it requires MCPs and a lot of power shifting in your rotation, but it can be done. Just a lot more work than pretty much every single class. You can get away with using one hand perfectly fine as a lot of other classes that literally click 1-2 buttons in pve in comparison.

The best mages do around the same single target dps as the best druids (for now) but they have to click a single button while druids have to go through the (probably) second hardest feral rotation ever.

how many buttons are used?

It isn’t about volume of buttons pressed (although those are numerous), it’s more about how many things you need to keep track of at the same time.

You can macro some to help. I have a button that shifts me into cat while in cat (to gain energy faster aka power shift) then I also have another button that does the same but also clicks my MCP/trinket which I use every 30 seconds in a fight, separate from my regular shift macro. Besides that you will mostly be using 2-3 damage abilities but like previously said it’s all about timing. When to power shift to regain energy, when to use which ability when you have an OoC proc etc

There has been 1-3 feral druids in every pug raid I’ve picked up. I boss tanked once but am usually cat form unless some adds are annoying.

As a druid, ultimately you are there for utility [MOTW, Innervate, Rebirth], so whatever else you contribute is just a bonus anyway. So I contribute with cat scratches lol.

The stigma of bears has mostly gone away and in many ways are like shadow priest where it’s even optimal to have at least 1 in raid.

For cat dps it “can” work but you need to push it to the limit as in farm Manuel crowd Pummelers, get yourself that helmet that gives you automatic energy by Shapeshifting, and have the right potions, etc.

Or you can join a casual pve guild in which this doesn’t really matter
