Wildvine is gone

Every once in a while, I like to go back and try to create gear I don’t have for appearances. Just spent hours trying to find wildvine.
Went to all the areas it used to fall. Killed trolls, picked purple lotus.
6 hours later, nothing. Not one.
If you’re going to take an item out of game, take it off the recipe list as well.
There are whole sets in tailoring and leatherworking that require wildvine.
This isn’t the only broken craft due to removal of materials.
Someone in development should be paying attention to these things.

Still drops but very rarely. Doesn’t drop from hinterland trolls but can drop from skull splitter witch doctors in STV.
They cut the drop rate from purple lotus but or can still be farmed from them.

I spent 6 hours on it.
IMO, even if it’s still out there, that drop rate is way too low when there are still patterns that require a material.
Needs to be fixed.
Once upon a time, you farmed blood vine with a special scythe in ZG. They could bring back a mechanic like that. Then only people who need it would find it.

Definitely still drops, I have 14 on the auction house right as we speak and have sold another 15 the last few weeks. The witch doctors have a 10% drop rate and the others have less than 1% so make sure you focus them, it was a long slog to get the amount I have but they do drop.

Congrats. 6 hours is more time than I want to spend on a material component for an old recipe.
I repeat, it’s fine if they don’t want it to drop so much, since very few recipes use it any more. There does need to be a reliable way to harvest it when needed. Either increase the drop rate on the few NPCs that still do drop it, or bring back a scythe, like they had for bloodvine in ZG.
Put in a little quest line, or just have it purchasable. Use it if you want wildvine, otherwise youi’ll just get your usual herbs.
This doesn’t seem difficult. The scythe seems like the best idea. No one wants a bunch of materials they can’t sell on the AH. Using the scythe only when you want it would keep you from collecting a bunch of useless herb.

“Congrats”

It’s nice to see you respond to people helping you out with rudeness. Maybe you should farm another 6 hours for this “useless” herb.

Wasn’t being rude, was congratulating you on doing what I could not.
Have a lovely day.

Have you seen Arthas’ Tears anywhere?

Haven’t looked.
Working up a new herbalist. Once I get there, I’ll post my findings.

Wildvine is used for potions by twinks. I’ve seen one making a fortune selling it to other twinks recently.

Great, great, not that ‘level zones’ has much meaning now, but I’ve been looking for it for a couple of years now without any luck. Even before all of Kalimdor and Eastern Kingdoms went 20-60 in zone. Was it supposed to be its own flower, an addon like WIldvine?

With zone scaling, each zone still drops the mats it used to before zone scaling. It actually makes it easier to level professions as you can now generally level in the particular zones that contain the mats you need to skill up.

Wow-professions com lists every gathering mat in the game and the zones it is found in along with gathering maps.

I remember Arthas’ Tears as it’s own flower.
Supposedly, it’s in Razorfen Downs.

Somewhat ironically, I still have Wildvine in my guild bank. Stashed away just in case pre-Cata just in case. I’ve never found a need to use it though.

Same. I have some old chars with a few here and there, but they’re on a different server.

Just to update, I ran RFD a couple times last night. No Arthas’ Tears. I just did it twice, I was tired. I’ll try a few more times and update again.

Kill Vilebranch Trolls in the Hinterlands for an hour the other night and did not get 1 Wildvine

That’s because, as noted previously in this thread, it no longer drops from hinterland trolls.

Try skullsplitter witch doctors in STV.

I have a lot in my gbank but it’ll cost ya :upside_down_face:. I keep mats and items like that all the time, specifically for the reasons you mentioned, sad thing is no one has any interest in the older patterns nor the value their rarity represents.

You are doing it wrong. Go wowhead the spots where it drops and only go to those spots. I’ll give you a huge hint how you can get a lot of them:

Felwood ruins.
