Wildstar Vibes?

The visual style and music of the zone remind me of Wildstar. That, as well as the fact that the zone is Ancient Technology mixed with Magic.

Did Blizzard poach some folks from Carbine Studios and they had an influence on this zone?

If it means they’re going to bring in the player housing system too, god I hope so.

Hah, a bit now that you mention it. Too bad we’re already at level cap, I’d love to hear someone go ‘WAY TO GO, CUPCAKE!’ next time I dinged.

I’m not familiar with that game, but how would player housing work in WoW ? I’m just familiar with it in ff14 and it’s kinda out of reach there.

Where is the hoverboard at

It’s between Wildstar or Pixar villain for me.

Wildstar, Torchlight, Hob, Allods…there’s quite a few “inspirations” they took liberties from this expansion

I think it also reminds me of the Asura capital city in GW2. I like the vibe a lot.

Wildstar gave players their own instance, like ESO, which led to a sizable lot where they could put crafting items or toys for friends and visitors to play. There were several house types based on races put you good buy whatever you wanted. Furniture was designed by other players or came as drops.

I really wouldn’t know how WoW would handle it given they had garrisons and those fell to the wayside.

That’s not the Wildstar hoverboard I’m looking for

I never like the whole island floating in the middle of nowhere aspect of Wildstar’s housing. Phasing is fine for economies of limited space, but I want an apartment overlooking the streets of Dalaran, or a cottage in Grizzly Hills, a mini-pyramid in Uldum, or something anywhere in Jade Forest.

You’re specifically looking for “S8er” vibes or something?

I feel like they could do something like that easily, but I still think phased housing would be better than FFXIV housing. Limited housing just sounds lame. Not worth the effort.

But they could do it similar to how they did the MoP farm and have locations all over Azeroth that could serve as a place to live.

Could still do that with phasing - it’d just have to be a personal phase any time you walk into it.

I’d really rather they not try to do the FFXIV limited space method, considering all the toxicity I’ve heard that can lead to.

I wonder if some sort of combo between garrisons and class halls would work?

Eh, class halls were even further away from housing than garrisons were.

Housing needs to be:

  • Entirely Optional
  • Personally phased - the garrisons got that part right IMO. Make it easy to join a party and switch to the party leader’s house
  • Fully customizable (so not just “swap between a handful of modules”)
  • Tied heavily into crafting

Chua vs. Vulpera, now that’s a fight.

It could but WoW would probably for some reason make is a feature for just that expansion instead of just letting it be a stand alone feature that players can control and do nonTOS breaking things.
