Just found this absolute GEM of a post by a game master:
“…The trinket was hotfixed to be unique as it was never intended to be worn or purchased twice”
(Yeah I knew this for sure by every single person on the internet saying to get two of them and the fact you NEVER TOLD US THIS IN A WAY THAT THE GENERAL PUBLIC COULD EASILY FIND cuase maybe you did say something in some twitter post or whatever I do not care.)
"…Becuase of this hotfix and the item being unique now we had to destroy on of them.
Customer Support and us GMs sadly can’t restore or offer any compensation for the trinket of refund the Wild Offerings."
(hahahahahahahahahahaah this is me laughing at you, the person making this decision, hahahahahah. Do something, anything that makes sense PLEASE.)
“…We asked the developers to look into it and if it would be possible to compensate all players that purchased the item twice and are effected by this change.”
(Yes, the answer is “Yes I can compensate my players for making a mistake on our end, yes I will be sending the wild offerings to them in the mail similar to item restores.”)
"…Sadly there is no update yet and we can’t promise that this will happen. But keep and eye on our forums and news and hopefully they will be able to help.
Still, I hope you have a great day and I wish you all the best.
wave"
(Course you can’t.)
Now I did not include the name of the Game Master because obviously it is not their fault and I want to keep this focused on the decision making process at this company.
I went ahead and rewrote the entire post to have it say what it meant:
“Sadly we are going to take away what you spent time and effort towards because we as a company made a mistake and it’s just easier to punish you, the player, for our mistakes, anyways we took your trinket and are giving you nothing for it you bad naughty player you, please give us 15 more dollars this month we desperately need it hahah wavesmile”
Be better Blizzard, we WANT to give you money you just make it so damn hard sometimes.
You couldn’t even humor the idea in your mind when looking at that trinket and thinking “wow maybe its an oversight maybe I should just hold the offerings for a little bit”?
Never bought the trinket or farmed for it myself, don’t even want it really and now I am going nowhere near it cause they can just take stuff from me and give me absolutely nothing in return. The people who got both trinkets still had to spend HOURS farming ZF or Muara or BRD and what did they get for those hours of planned and thought out time? Nothing.
You’re mad that people you don’t even know did something silly and didn’t even use basic common sense?
How did they take something from you, if you didn’t farm it? My point in restating it is because you’re mad about something that didn’t even happen. You’re also making a broad generalization based on them correcting an oversight. Which this unique item problem has happened several times in WoW’s history.
I think it is reasonable to expect the currency you used to purchase the item be refunded. A simple in game mail with 12 wild offerings in it. Case shut, ticket closed.
I agree with the OP’s sentiment on this one. Hopefully Blizzard gives it a look and makes it right.
Imagine being so whipped by Blizzard that you think players are supposed to assume when mistakes are made on the dev side lol. Just shows how complacent WoW addicts are when it comes to their Video Game Overlords giving them content.
“Why didn’t you look at the item and realize it’s too powerful to not be unique?!” the audacity lol.
I always find it amusing when people use the term “WoW Addicts” as a derogatory term. We’re all playing the game. Whether you spend your time as a forum keyboard warrior or a whipped complacent ‘WoW Addict’, we’re all still giving them money.
So the game has 20 years of history. It’s a well known fact that the overwhelming majority of trinkets are unique or have no way of getting a second copy. They very very rarely ever let you have two of the same ring or trinkets. It’s been this way for over a decade nearing two. THIS is basic common sense. Because it turns out datamining isn’t always 100% correct, things do change and sometimes things slip through the cracks. Turns out it’s happened many many times in the past 2 decades of the game’s lifespan.
You ARE at fault for buying two. You could of waited, held onto your offerings over the weekend. Could of asked yourself “hey this seems to good to be true, will it be nerfed?” and seen what happened after the weekend. To wait and see what hotfixes were going to hit and what was going to happen. To be just a little bit cautious knowing there was a lot of bugs that needed fixing and changes that could happen.
Instead you rushed super fast to grind and buy two of the same trinket. With even a sliver of a doubt you still did it. So it is players fault if they grinding out 12 extra runs to a 2nd trinket. So suck it up and accept your punishment. Cry toxic all you want but you made a mistake in choice and blizzard made a mistake in not catching a trinket that should of been unique from the start. I didn’t make that mistake cause I know how blizzard acts with trinkets after a number of years playing the game. Anyone who’s been around for some years should of known better.
Personally while I was farming the Wild Offerings I needed over the weekend, I was certain that Blizzard would slap a unique on the trinket.
That’s why I only farmed one trinket and the ring, because I figured I’d save myself some time and only go back to farm a second trinket if Blizzard left it not unique for like a week or something.
Admittedly, it does feel like something people should have seen coming, if even someone like me could see it coming.
Unfortunately, this is copium. Lots of people don’t even pay subs anymore lol. And when I say “WoW Addicts” I mean people addicted to WoW, not people playing WoW. The people who ONLY play WoW for the last 20 years, never play anything else, and dont care about anything else. Their perspective is skewed.
