It would be best if the mobs that spawn after gathering a Wild node, herbing or mining, were personal phased, much like the add that spawns from empowering the nodes. As it is they are only lootable by the player that spawned them. This would resolve the issue of nodes becoming guarded by swarms of spawned wild mobs. The mobs should also despawn faster if not engaged. I’m encountering these mobs long after the wild node is gone and the node site has even respawned a non-wild node.
Alternately, allow anyone who kills the mobs to loot and gather them. I don’t think this is the best option, but if I have to kill them to get the node, then I might as well get the loot and extra resources too.

Completely agree - especially with your last sentiment. If someone’s just going to leave these behind and now I have to go through them, I deserve the loot from them. Maybe this is tricky to do, but if the player they belong to is outside a radius from them then they could become fair game.

They already do a “timed out” type system with skinning. If a skinner kills a mob it is not typically skinnable by any other skinner who did not also tag the mob. After certain conditions are met that I’m not 100% sure on, the corpse can be skinned by others if abandoned by the original tag.

I am so tired of others flying in while im killing mine and spawning thiers and leaving while leaving me with them.. at least if the person that spawned them leaves like 60 yards away it becomes a free for all on theirs or they despawns them.

Agreed!.
It’s hard to believe they overlooked this detail when designing the mining system. It’s incredibly frustrating.
It would be great if they fixed that.

Can’t believe they aren’t coming in with a change on the first patch.
I’ve been dismounted just flying by old oreling spawns. It’s sooooooooooooooooooo bad man.
But I’ve got some revenge too on Ally trying to spawn their orelings on me and that always makes me feel better.

I took one of my alts out today to level mining and herbs. I ran into a bunch of alliance players from stormrage and area-52 that did the farm and vanish routine on me. They farm the node, then use whatever ability (camouflage, vanish, invisibility) spell that they had to disappear and left me with their mobs as well as mine. I died more today farming nodes than I ever have doing anything else.
I can’t stand people who act like that. If you can’t be responsible for killing your own mobs, then don’t level gathering professions. Unfortunately, people can’t be punished for acting like jerks in this game.

Yeah normally it is druids doing this as they farm the node and fly away leaving 4 more mobs to kill if you are fighting yours. Others will cooperate and kill them all.
They have changed it to where herbs give out herbs now. I don’t see that changing much.
Maybe have 2 wild spawns on herbs to match ore nodes? Leaving it 4, they need to despawn when another node pops up.
For the motes of light they skip the random catch ones but that is their loss imo. Void and Energy are loot and go ones.
For those that say skip them or skip the zone ignores this bad mechanic. Fix the issue not ignore it.

Seems like half the time when you are forced to clean up their mobs from the druid bots, the entire node just despawns. what a joke!

Once you get Knowledge Points into the Wild Nodes in Herbing it becomes 2 larger mobs instead of 4 smaller.
I don’t think the devs actually play the game. I don’t think they have for a long time.

I have way more light motes than I’m ever going to need. and they’re not worth enough on the ah (maybe 2g each) to spend those seconds catching them rather than move on to get more flowers or ore.

The other option is that you get no ore or herb at all until you kill the mobs.
My feeling is its done to deliberately grief people. After all, for a few seconds extra time you get extra materials. The only reason not to is to hamper other players.

I have posted simliar to this on reddit and will echo the same thing here (probably was made to try to get some dev attention to it to maybe get a hotfix to it in the future).
I try to be reasonable and I do kill my own so someone near by doesnt have to clean my mess but its annoying to have someone come in, mine and herb, leave and I get extra that I cant mine and or herb.
Now I’m just starting to think to do the same thing, why bother cleaning when a druid is just going come in and give me nothing for extras?
Someone said this before me but these mobs need to be personal phased at this point, its not fun seeing a wild herb guarded by 8 lashers and I have to kill them for essentially nothing,

Another reason I see it as player griefing; if they leave the mobs they know that anyone nearby trying to gather that node will have waisted their time for no reward. It’s very petty stuff.
PS: I sometimes get annoyed when the mods move posts to other forums. This isn’t just an issue about a ‘profession’ its a gaming issue. It should stay in GD for input from people who don’t come to the Professions forum.
