How do we feel about extending the new retail support for wide / ultra-wide loading screens to the Classic client? I, as an ultra-wide user, would love to see the old loading screens in classic get the same treatment (a character creation screen that takes up the whole display would also be welcome).
Seems like something they should have already fixed when they added support for ultrawide resolutions.
It’s something you only see for a second, I can’t even read the loading screen tips anymore on this ssd. Unless the server hangs…
You really want that busty night elf to pop, don’t you?
Alas no - even BfA loading screens black-barred on the sides when displayed on ultra-wide.
Remember, Vanilla was really designed as a 4:3 experience.
As an ultrawide user, it’s fine. They don’t need to change anything. 21:9 resolutions are supported. We don’t need new loading screens.
They only just started using wide screen loading screen art in Legion. I doubt we’ll see any support for it.
And I’m not advocating for new entirely new loading screens - I would be happy with the kind of parchment-looking frame that they’ve done for the 8.2 patch that simply fills the blank spaces on the sides of the screen.
As silly as it may seem to some, the black edges are actually reminiscent of the old 4:3 CRT monitors. It’s kind of a nostalgic thing. It’s like, “Oh yeah remember the good old days with those bulky monitors? Man those were good times.”
Adding edges brings very little benefit if any. Either way it’s a small thing and probably not worth extra effort.
True, but if I wanted that pure vanilla visual experience, I’d have to go out and re-purchase my old 19" Sony Trinitron. As it stands, I’m very much looking forward to playing in an ultrawide resolution.
Same. Once you go ultrawide you don’t to back.
I just feel like the loading screens aren’t a big issue and it is a small dose of nostalgia as they are currently.
