Why's the sunwell so important?

Like how does Xalatath getting it result in Azeroth just being over?

Arthas exploded it once and not much really happened, so why is it so important now?

The sunwell getting exploded was a big enough deal for the blue dragonflight to get directly involved.

Anyway it’s basically the eastern well of eternity, huge font of power, also happens to probably be plugged to one of the world trees (old map drafts called it a world tree outright, and given its root system is probably the access to the rootlands, well).

It probably serves the same purpose as the other Wells. Someone wants to use it to enter our world. It’s basically a large portal. Sargeras tried to enter through the Well of Eternity, Kelthuzad was resurrected through the Sunwell, Kill Jaeden tried to enter our world through the Sunwell, and Sargeras tried to enter Illidan’s corpse through the Nightwell. My guess is that Xalathat wants to bring some voidaddy from her.

A lore I believe has been forgotten is that the Sunwell was built on a ley line point of EK, just like Karazhan. That’s why it was sacred to the Trolls before the Elves plundered it for themselves.

I don’t know but I do remember it.

The Sunwell is one of the last fonts of power from the Well of Eternity. It’s Arcane and Light. And probably some of Azeroth’s power mixed into it, since it was the wound that the Titans had to heal.

The Well of Eternity was the wound the Titans had to heal, not the Sunwell. The Sunwell was created with only ONE vial of water from the Well of Eternity. So theoretically it should be far less powerful. Although it has been infused with Light since then.

It SHOULD be about the same power as the new well under Nordrassil (also created with one vial), but I think its power is mostly contained within the tree. So maybe the Sunwell is the easiest to access?

So was the second well of eternity and the legion basically beelined for both the new WoE and the Sunwell as soon as they learned they existed (it did take respectively 10 and 7 millenia and actual spies on the ground for them to figure it out). The rituals involved basically make it all “well of eternity water” which is why droplets of it also power the moonwells.

There’s also supposed to be an unaccounted for third vial.

I don’t believe I said otherwise?

The well under Nordrassil got decimated by the Legion. It’s probably not what it used to be.

The Nordrassil well can likely fully heal in time seeing how moonwells are still being made all over the place.

The Sunwell was not sacred to the trolls.

The Sunwell isn’t even on the mainland and, from what I remember of chronicles, they avoided that island.

Which has morphed into rampant fanon about Sunwell plateau being built over a great troll city that would make IRL irredentists blush.

One possibility is it isn’t, Dornogal wasn’t really important to Xal’atath’s plans either. :world_map::robot:

This isn’t the same sun well as back then, that one was destroyed. It was “reignited” by the cleansing of a Naru. It is now not the little brother to the well of eternity it has a strong connection to the Light.

Anything that makes Xal more powerful is bad for us.

I have a feeling that it’s one of the last remaining founts of The Light. They all seem to be connected, and if one falls, the rest are not far behind. Xal’atath wants to hurt Alleria. Killing her husband and destroying her ancestral homeland is probably why she is there and making it the first stop on her world tour.

It’s going to be used as a portal for the 2700th time. That or it’s just xal’atath continuing to collect power mcguffins.

I would think Xal woukd would be going after all fonts of power sunwell nightwell and whatever Naarus the draenei have on their ships and the exodar

Well, the waters that were purified by Velen and Liadrin with the heart of M’uru. So it still retains the water from vials collected from the Well of Eternity.

Perhaps the only thing that actually poses a threat to Xal’atath’s plans, but maybe it is something that will be answered throughout Midnight.

well that sunwell will be defiled by xalatath stinky smelly old wrinkly grandpa lou pickles feet.
