Why'd They Ditch Class Quests?

Warlock and Paladin level 60 mount quests are not easy to solo, if not impossible. Both require entering high level dungeons, and if you are late to the party, chances are most people have already done them, and don't run the dungeons anymore, other than for transmog or mounts/pets whatever. For some, it would probably be easier to raise the gold to buy a normal epic mount, and then wait until you are high enough level to solo the instances. Said in other words, those two quests were more relevant with a level 60 max, than 120 or even 70.

If they had not removed the Paladin ones they would have had to rework the Scholo fight since you had to use specific spells.
Its needs to put the MMORPG BACK into the game thats IT.

I'll have to pass on that. Can't recall the details :)

There were like 3 waves of ghosts with the Boss that you needed to use a specific judgement on them, was pretty cool, i was sooo close to being server first with the mount, but one of the dps pulled early:O(

Ok, gotcha. Never did the Paladin quest back then, as I rolled my Paladin late TBC, and I think in WoTLK they changed it. Gosh, been so long ago. My memory goes mushy on some parts :D I did the Warlock quest back then, and I invited two other warlocks who needed it as well. Never understood the people whining back then, about "free epic mount" Nothing free about it, cheaper yes, but by no means free :)

oh no way, the Black Diamond, pristine i think?(too lazy too google), was not cheap, the barding or something was like 200g for me, and a couple other things, plus the rest of the mats were not cheap.

I think they mean the slow one, i think that was actually free? HOnestly right now, I do not remember.
There were two quests I remember in particular.
The first being a blacksmithing quest. I remember needing materials from RFK. By the time I was able to get them, the gear obtained was completely underwhelming. For what you had to go through to build it, that chest piece should have been blue. At least, imho.

Also, I remember the Shaman water totem quest being ridiculously difficult to solo.

Anyway, to answer your question, in the above contexts, I think both of those quests that I experienced, could have been better thought out. Not sure if that had anything to do with, just my .02.

Yes, the normal mounts at 40 was just a quest and pick-up. Epic mounts, not so :)

The original class quests were either pathetic (quests to learn res for priest/paladin) or actually took some minimal amount of skill (Warlock & Paladin 60 mounts, Benediction, and Hunter bow quest). Neither of which really fit the modern WoW...

Or they were pure torture, like the shaman water totem quest. Nothing like having to hoof it back and forth from the barrens to Silverpine (and places in between) a few times with no mount. Quest was easy, but it took a couple hours just to get around...if memory serves.

They didn't. Legion's whole leveling experience had quests that were catered to your class. They were amazing. I got a staff as a holy priest that let me cleanse a Naru from corruption. LIberated The Ashbringer on my Paladin and used it to literally turn some enemies instantly into ash.

Oh yeah, I also stopped the burning legion, fought two titans, learned who Elune actually was all this time, and stopped mother freakin Sargaras's Burning Legion. Best expansion of all time. =P

Apparently you missed the part where a bunch of those artifact quests where shared with other class/spec artifact quests. They weren't all unique by a longshot. There was a whole mess of specs that had one in the Karazan Crypts, for example.

I never said all artifact quests were different. I said I received different artifacts that had a story behind them for my class! The order halls and the story all contained unique quests and story bits for every class. A few overlapping quests does not deny the fact that each class had a separate story and unique quests to do from all other classes.
Just FYI, aside from all the mount quests and epic quests, vanilla will also have level 50 class quests which give a choice 3 very unique rewards -- usually trinkets or weapons.

Check out these rewards:
Hunter: https://vanilla-twinhead.twinstar.cz/?quest=8232
Warlock: https://vanilla-twinhead.twinstar.cz/?quest=8422

The hunter's pet crit trinket and lock free VW summon trinket people used through BC. Those sorts of items would never exist now adays. It could also have something to do with Blizzard's decision to remove some class quests over time.
legion had tons of class quests

artifacts. unique quest lines for mounts and other stuff

mage tower. a lot of the old class quests are still in the game too

Click on stupid mission table, come back 20 hours later, click on mission table twice, come back 20 hours later, click on mission table twice, come back 20 hours later click on mission table. That was some seriously class-based special stuff there (I'll give you the artifact challenges as they actually required a modicum of knowing how to play your class)...

the rogue mount quest comes to mind. tbh that was more rogueish than the class quests from vanilla

too bad the mount sucks lol
The class quests were eliminated for two reasons:

1. Players like instant gratification, and it felt "unrewarding" to have to go do the old school class quests. That's why they are legacy achievos now.

2. Cataclysm removed so many, because it sundered the world. Zones were changed and completely revamped. Storyline wise they were removed because it no longer fit.

Other than that, they weren't really added back in. Wrath ushered in the new era of zerg to max and get purples. That's what appealed to the loudest on the playerbase. That's what we got.
Correction: they removed class development and player agency in Cata.
