The problem is that the Winter Queen used the anima of her own soul to feed ysera s and stop her from dying true death. That links her to the Winter Queen eternally.
As for “the fae don’t give something for nothing” they do that daily. Both the Winter Queen and her sister understand their own and each other’s roles and their importance. If the Winter Queen didnt nurse wild nature spirits back to their worlds reborn nature would die on every planet. She said that herself
So did the Winter Queen do something unusual for Ysera that makes it impossible for her to be fully reborn, or is this the same thing that happens to all the spirits who pass through Ardenweald?
It’s definitely something unusual as the winter queen tells ysera afterwards, that she is now tied to ardenweald and its fate. Normally wild gods and loa return to their home world, if they still have one, after being reincarnated
Ysera however, is neither.

Merithra must become Dream in Ysera’s stead for Ysera is an embodiment of the Nature Death Magic of Ardenweald tied to the Winter Queen.
I’m sure if Ysera births new children they too will be of Nature Death Magic instead of Nature Order Magic.
The Wild Gods are restored to their original state when revived the normal way while Ysera is revived in a way that turns her into a being of Death despite technically being alive after Malfurion offered himself up to revive her.
Just because someone’s is a being of the Cosmic Force of Death doesn’t mean they are dead. Death Magic is just an Element. The Undead aren’t all of Death and can be of Life just as they can be of any Cosmic Force.
No, she did not die heroically in Legion. Ysera’s death was one of the $h!++iest, and cheapest deaths in all of WoW. Cenarius’ lover actually doing something worthwhile, and actually meaningful for once is an actual decent change. Just leave him there, with his real true love, close this dumpster fire that is dubbed Shadowlands, and please let us all move on, and let the healing begin.
Yes. Using her own anima to save her soul is something that’s basically never done. Ysera is eternally bound to ardenweald and the Winter Queen because she has some of the winter queens own anima in her
I think the point is for it to be a temporary trade. I think Ysera just needed to be there for some emotional beats with her daughter to pass on the torch, and lend some strength to help return the green flight’s power to the dragons.
I presume malfurian and ysera will trade places again very soon.
Ysera was instrumental in the night fae campaign and the story of the shadowlands as a whole. I assume elune sent her there to be helpful. dragons don’t actually go to shadowlands. They go to G’hnar which is in the dream. Which is weird considering they’re primal elementals evolved through arcane…that go to a wild god dimension in the emerald dream when they die…yea idk
