Hi. My name is Dozer and i’m a pvper in WoW. I’ve always been pretty decent in pvp and have been 2200+ in arenas and 2400+ in rbgs. I see a lot of misinformation in these forums day in an day out so i’ll just lay it to you straight. If you’re having problems gaining rating at around 1600-1800, it’s not youre fault. The problem is with the system and also how deflated rating is now.
For example, 1600 in BFA would have been about 1700 in Legion. 1700 in BFA = 1800 in Legion. 1900 in BFA is the equivalent of about 2000cr in Legion and so and and so on.
The problem has to do with deflated rating is and also with how many people are selling boosts now at low cr. It’s very hard to gain rating the legit way and even so, it’s even harder to find an arena partner that actually wants to teach you the ropes.
Bottom line is this. Don’t worry about rating. Worry about getting better at youre class and eventually things will just come together on there own. Make sure your wearing the best azerite pieces for youre spec, trinkets, etc etc. All of that combined with skill = rating in this game. So yeah. Good luck to all you young pvpers. It’s difficult at first but with time, you’ll get your first challenger title, rival title etc.

It’s unfortunately a common trend. 2k-2,2k MoP=2.4k WoD, 2.2k WoD=2.6k Legion, and finally 2.2k Legion= Glad BFA. Does this allude that the next comparison will be something like: 2.3k-2.4kBFA= r1 (Next xpac)?
no i hardly think rank1 will ever be demeaned to that level it’s still really competitive at the top of the ladder
something like ferocious gladiator will never be as impressive as something like cataclysmic gladiator
but thats not to say someone whos 3k now (not r1 btw) wont be getting rank1 easily next expansion given enough people quit or they get picked up by better players
Glad might be the threshold next xpac, but that might not mean r1 gets harder to achieve as expansions go by. As you mentioned, there’s definitely a noticeable skill disparity from prior r1s compared to the r1s from the latest seasons we have experienced. For example, a relatively high amount of players that have never even been at glad range in WoD or previous expansions were able to conquer r1 titles in Legion, and it still applies to this xpac as well. I still agree that the competitiveness at the r1 range is at the top, but I guess as expansions go by in WoW, the game has been made easier for many players to jump in and partake in hardcore PvP without having to learn/practice as much as the players did in previous expansions.
I mean when you have players who have never gotten glad in previous expansions for the past 10 years and then suddenly get it this xpac? One word. Welfare.
Unless you want gear and are running out, and then it IS time to worry

Actually, as a mount collector looking to get into arenas for the saddles, is there a post or site that explains how the ranking system works?
I have zero issue putting in the effort to get good, but I don’t want to find that I have wasted time because I didn’t understand something correctly.
If i played symbiosis in MoP and got 2.5k and cant break 2.2 now does that really mean MoP was more skilled pvp? no.
Eh, I think its a bit of an over exaggeration when you refer to one ability as being so potent that it literally hands the player free points. Sure Symb did give its exorbitant amount of advantages, but was it really deemed that to where it helped/boosted people in one expansion where they are unable to evaluate their lack of progress in a following expansion? No I don’t think so.
The cases of that happening are not pervasive and are probably extremely rare imo, but I’m sure every player has their reason for not being able to perform up to their level of expectation.

Ferocious gladiator is way more impressive, manly, and hot than some silly peasant r1 title like cataclysmic gladiator.
