See this is what I never understood. Why do you think fairness is inherent in pvp or even a goal? wPvP has no boundaries and any semblance of being fair has to be forced by BOTH sides. But that’s not what wPvP is. It’s just chaos. Sometimes luck will be on your side, and others it will be against you. That’s how it works, and that’s largely where the fun is. It’s always just a toss up and you got to play the hand you get in that moment.
SS/TM is completely dead on most servers because it’s actually the WORST possible honor farm.
solo or 2-3 man groups are meta, and what the top bracket will be full of.
The first few days were VERY zergy for sure. The vast majority of that has died down though, PvP is WAY better now that most people have stopped doing it. Outside of BRM, it’s extremely rare to see groups of 10+. It’s almost entirely 2-5 mans.
I feel a lot of people on the forums quit because of the first couple days, and never came back to see how much its actually improved and settled.
I buy that, but I also see it on pve servers. Its the timesink of waiting for fights, Im told…
Another fair point. But, based on Discord and AH transaction drops, I think it settled because people quit, or just want to raid log. Damage was done that first week.
Faerlina last night had more breathing room when I decided to run my herb farming (rogue) circuit for kicks: many less players.
Its not like 12 loud complainers left and server density isnt a thing.
add literally 3 years of private servers to that, and the copious amounts of content that was pushed out over a year before classic ever launched, and the copious amounts of content thats been pushed out about it since classic launched.
Yes. I think you can call PvP boring without being a carebear. I literally couldn’t and still cant imagine stealthing all day and slamming targets all day. I had a blast early on but the r14 grind is not for everyone. Especially with the rollback penalty. I thought I did want pvp but I didnt.
Yeah, for sure. They are definitely having fun regardless and seem locked in for the long haul. I wonder if the nonprivate:private ratio will skew over time.
I don’t consider it damage, there were too many people in the first place.
there is a degree of fairness, it’s just much larger than bgs/arenas, and REAL pvp servers (ffa) have MUCH larger degrees than wow.
chaos has its own order.
Sometimes you’ll completely stomp people even in incredibly fair situations, sometimes you’ll have incredibly close fights with outrageously unequal footings. It’s all there, there’s just a much larger variety in wpvp. wpvp is also far more dynamic than bgs and you can do significantly more using the open world to create advantages that simply don’t exist in bgs. Examples include aggroing the bats in eastern to aoe silence your enemies and BRM lava shenanigans.
If you think wPvP is just one overpopulated side continually smashing the underpopulated one and that’s pretty much it, you haven’t actually experienced much of wpvp.
My First, original Server I ever played back in the old days was on Gurubashi, aPvP server. World PvP was in a far better place then than it is currently.
These Zerg fests are boring the way blizzard has these classic servers set up. There’s no thrill or excitement in them.
I gotta say, if more people shared your resolve, it would be more fun out there.
Nice retorts man. Still not for me, but Im glad people are finding their groove. Its not like 40% left…and yeah, less people makes a huge, positive difference.
People should have left the megaservers when warned. I was just stubborn and far too curious.
If you don’t like zergs, don’t go to zerg zones (BRM/Feralis). You’re painting wpvp with an incredibly large brush.
WPL/EPL is known for being a 1-3 man zone on my server. We consider 5 mans there “zergs”, but a few of the soloers/2 man teams just come together to stomp them. There’s plenty of traditional style wpvp action that happens.
It’s very popular, but people don’t roll in in raids, they will break down into small groups to pvp (unless they are baiting at LHC). It’s just the type of zone it is. We have almost unspoken rules about what type of zones offer what type of wpvp content.
You think just because i’m horde it’s impossible to be the underdog. Or that I joined horde on this server expecting it to be horde dominant.
Is my reasoning for why i thought otherwise. Obviously I was wrong.
from an alliance on my own server on this thread.
It’s a classic tribalism mindset. You can’t see the individual from the group. You even immediately went to insults. I hope a lack of self awareness is the worst of that statement, and not an indicator of deeper ideological tendencies.
