Blizzards idea of housing was the refugee camp of a garrison we got.
Yes, I would love more RPG aspects in this MMORPG.
If you want that kind thing In a game, go play Animal crossing lol. Decorating a house with items for just being used as a display kinda sounds bit of a waste of time. Guild halls would be a better thing to have⦠like maybe have a built in trade center that only works inside guild hall within its guild members. Have like professions based on guild members professions and somehow to easily trade services among your guild members and what not. Maybe have like a weekly a quest where you have your guild members participate in what random activity it is whether its dungeon, raid boss, battle ground. Kill x amount of players in warmode(would make WM little more engaging) etc
No it doesnāt, people constantly whine about how the world feels empty due to sharding/CRZ and adding player housing would just bring us back to garrisons where nobody leaves except to raid.
I think I actually agree with you. That does kind of sound more functional than player housing from a game play perspective.
But ideally, Iād like both. WoW player housing would be more of a customization feature that allows for some extra fluff and fun. But I know my WoW house will never be as fabulous as my animal crossing one.
Thatās also another reason why I think my guild halls idea would be better suited. You would be instanced with your guild.
Hey do you live in Bedstuy?
Guild halls would be a much better investment. You want things that bring people together not get them hiding in a closet arranging stuff. I can see guild Halls being a reward for large active guilds and having apartments for its members. I would like to see such guild halls in the unused portions of capital cities to breath more life into them.
No, itās a crappy idea. People like to customize things to their own tastes. How would that work in a Guild Hall? In all likelihood the customization options would be controlled by Guild Leadership. How is that fun for anyone but them?
What if they add customization to guild halls that is done as a guild team? Like finding resources, patterns for different styles of items and what not. And there be a voting system to take place so that it not decided on leader but as a guild decision. And guild member would have x amount of days to place a vote⦠and once the voting ends that would be time when changes to things inside be made like the appearances and what notā¦so it wouldnāt be leaders decision but guild as a whole or atleast for everyone that voted have equal decision. Voting system would be best for your question zootzoot
A good house system, if its robust enough can be tied to a guild or a single player easy enough. You could simply have a guild able to purchase a lot, that is separate from a player.
Everything for player housing has been done fantastically in other games, so its not like the devs even have to go very far to get ideas.
Its why something like the garrison is such a weird thing, they set out with some goals and failed on them in a spectacular way.
but a guild social space should be an awesome thing for the game, But that also should be something players have access to.
In other games i love being able to bring friends back to my place why we chat, often we decide what we are going to get up to as well there.
If they ever do housing, it should be VISIBLE TO ALL PLAYERS!
The way it would work is that there would be 100+ house sites around the world. each holding multiple homes like the garrison.
Each site would display a random house on the site, changing every time someone gets in range.
Out front would be a āguest bookā on a stand that you could click and view thumbnail images of all the houses there, or search them by player name / class/ faction. See one you like, select it, and it appears on the site for you to check it out. Anyone can then enter the house to get ideas for their own, but NOT interact with anything or anyone in it.
Everyone should have full control of the configuration and appearance. No ācannedā houses in the various WoW themes. Something more like building in Minecraft, but without the blockiness would work for me.
House builders could even put their plans up for sale for the design challenged. Set a price that appears in the guest book, and if a visitor buys, they get the plans, and a list of materials they have to gather to complete it. Once they have all the materials and click ābuildā in the plans, the house appears on that lot.
Never cared about player housing. WoW needs many things, especially since BfA, but a house isnāt one of them.

Nah, a much better idea would be a guild hall, like class halls but with features that suit for guild purposes.
I would love this! Iāve seen small scale games even doing this one, it shouldnāt be that hard to do.
WoW needs to focus on game play first before crap like housing even gets mentioned.
only if itās like what wildstar had.
As Iāve said in other similar threads, right now I log in for emissaries, raid and thatās about it.
This would probably get me playing the game significantly more as Iād have something else to work towards.
Why not both?
Player housing is cool in concept and I have seen it done well in other games but I really donāt think Blizzard could really do it very well. They have real issues with customization and not tying it to various other systems.
Transmog should have been as simple as an appearance tab with no/very few restrictions and no cost but look at the convoluted mess that turned into. faction restrictions, armor class restrictions, PvP ranking restrictions, sillyness restrictions and all with exceptions and other messy situations like engineering helms being cloth, non universal unlocks for drops ect.
I donāt mean to go on a rant about transmog but I donāt trust a company that got that one aspect of customization so wrong to deliver on a fun customization function in the future, let alone a new feature they would have to build from the ground up.
Player/Guild housing would be great if Blizzard let players design their own house as they see fit but since they made Garissons I doubt they will ever do housing since they consider that āhousingā and any player that thinks otherwise they just scoff at that notion.
The housing system if ever done should be players being able to place/move items anywhere they want but I think Bliz would just do something like how Garrisons had the archaeology room with preset locations for the items.
So when players shun that system they will just say āoh we tried again and again players didnāt like itā.
The devs just have to read the comments in housing threads to see what players would want and then make it happen with every patch or so offering new items and such to the system.
