Why wow lore is better than FF14

I don’t know about the FF14 lore, but I hope it’s at least better written than the warcraft lore told from WOD to Shadowlands.
The current lore of the game is worse than other games at the moment.
And the future will bring us nothing better.

I’m 51 and employee full time. During the time I spend playing games I prefer to spend them enjoying a great story rather than running instance treadmills and grinding tedious systems in order to get some piece of gear that’s just going to be worthless next patch.

I have 3 jobs and honestly you can engage with the lore by just reading quest text

It’s not some side activity that requires any substantial investment

You just pay attention to what’s happening in the story and why.

Or just accept every quest and kill the sparkly thing :man_shrugging: play how you want

Op trying to defend Wow’s lore in the Shadowlands expansion:

You would have done better not to use Final Fantasy in your title. Its not necessary to discuss the topic and feels a bit like bait.

If I wanted to play a game with no story I could play solitaire. I still get to win but its slightly more immersive than watching golf.

Renown Campaigns would like a word with you.

The BFA campaign as well

Let’s add the legion campaign to boot.

Lore was optional until Legion.

With a mouse click, you can still just go through all the dialog and cut cutscenes fairly fast in FFXIV if you want to. However, I’ll say this. I’m almost done with ARR, I’ve been paying attention to the story and I don’t find it all that compelling. It’s standard FF and JRPG stuff.

Great! You should try playing the Witcher.

ARR’s payoff comes in Shadowbringers.
I’ll give the standard ff disclaimer and say wait until Heavensward to make a judgment. The transition from ARR to HW is really incredible by itself IMO.

KEKW no. You’d have to be daft to think this.

Yeah it’s not just a text mudds anymore.

WoW doesn’t have lore. Stuff just made up on move, no rules, no consistency, no nothing.

If you want massive absolutely infinite detailed as alexandrian library lore in MMO - ESO is your choice. TES universe have books (inside game) that have more lore than entire Warcraft

Couldn’t agree more! WoW has CHOICE!

I’m both of those things and I can’t get enough lore. I love finding books on tables and reading those, read all the quest text - even on alts and never skip cutscenes no matter how many times I’ve seen them.

I’ve found as you begin to absorb the lore, you pick up on little things in older content that you didn’t before.

Again I don’t care how many books, knobs, stories about old stuff that is irrelevant a game has, or even if I could pick up candles and random items that are meaningless. That’s what Skyrim is. Wow is an action mmorpg where you engage in thrilling combat and roleplaying. That’s what the market wants. That’s why it’s story is better. It gives people what they want. Ff14 is just ff with couch coop. Nothing wrong with that. Enjoy it. It’s just inferior to wow based on pure and simple economics.

copium is dangerous thing man, stop it, get some help

How do you feel about levelling in general? Without a story, it seems pointless outside of teaching a player how to play their class. I could see tutorials filling in the gap easily, it would actually do a better job due levelling teaching players how to solo rather than perform in group settings.

There is story. The races, the starting cities, the natural progression are all unspoken elements of story.

Ff14 doesn’t have that. It has a weird story written and injected into the game since the races are uninspired and the game has game has guard rails.

I agree with this, but I was more so curious as to the kind of gamer you are. The problem I have with WoW is that I feel disconnected from the story, and an emphasis is placed toward end content.

One of the things I used to like about WoW was the levelling process, unfortunately with Cata it along with trade skills, as well as reliance on dungeons to better equip yourself for world PVE became less necessary.

I was curious if one of the reasons you dislike ffxiv so much, is because you would rather bypass all of the obstacles to reach end game where you feel the meat of the game exists.
