Compared to every other game I’ve played, WoW is just killing it when it comes to fun and exciting dopamine rushes.
WoW has so many ways to hit this pleasure button in my brain when I think of any other game.
Want to make gold? You got a few options:
Just camp the AH for the right materials and refresh, refresh, refresh (like pulling a handle at the slot machine) until someone posts a batch of items really cheap. Then if you get lucky and find it, you have 0.5 seconds to click on the stack, buy x2, and ka-ching you make gold AND get a nitro boost of dopamine on top of the hits you were getting while refreshing!
You can also camp the crafting table - refresh, refresh, refresh, until an item comes up that’s a first craft or that has a decent commission. Then you get that nitro boost as you race against everyone else doing the same to cash in. Ka-ching!
If you prefer a less time-sensitive/race approach you can just mindlessly attack enemies in farm groups and you get the anticipation everytime you loot a round of slayings.
Want to play content?
M+/Raid - gives you a nice drawn out period of Flow right before the looting kicks that dopamine rush!
And of course - the vault. Each week, you build up to that huge mountain of anticipation to see what mega reward you get or miss out on.
Honestly - casinos don’t even give this kind of joy to the brain. WoW is killing it.
I’m only here for the friends that came back. I had 15 come back, but we’re already down to 10. At this point, I enjoy playing w my friends more than I enjoy the game itself.
WoW is a game that has something for everyone, which is what drew me to it.
Do you like to collect? This game has you covered–pets, mounts, achievements, transmogs. Tons and tons of things to collect. Filling out my mount catalog has been one of my favorite and most satisfying ways of play.
Like doing raids and dungeons? WoW has an insane amount of those too, on varying difficulties. Huge catalog of content to go through.
Don’t like instanced content? The overworld is huge and full of quests, reputations, hidden treasures, and puzzles to work on. Go for it.
PvP? Sure thing, here’s War Mode and tons of different modes of play from Arenas, various styles of BG, and then Epic BGs.
Me too. Id say its the thing that’s keeping me most interested. I suck at it, but im old and out of practice.
I play every expansion, some more than others. but if blizz can keep up with the rapid class balancing they’ve been doing in the upcoming seasons, I could see myself sticking this time.
I think it is now mediocre in most ways aside from the loop that M+ that provides, which is kind of amazing considering how little work they do on it.
I got lucky I chose to DPS not to heal for the first time in a decade otherwise I’d be on a Resto Shaman and would have quit.
If it wasn’t for M+ I’d have let my sub stay dormant and I’d have stayed on FFXIV. 6.3 looks great whereas my main is essentially getting to where I want it and my alt is gated behind tuning apathy and subscription panhandling like the catalyst.
I find it fun and challenging. I wish it wasn’t so taxing on my computer, but you can’t expect to get new nifty content without requiring a little more horsepower from your PC…
Casinos don’t grasp a single one of my brain cells as interesting but I do find WoW more interesting than other games I’ve tried, so yeah. It’s all good.
